okay so when i was younger i remember my family saying what dreams meant. and in school we learned that there was a time when dreams were used to interpret people in phychology. what do you think about interpreting dreams in therapy and also what are some of the dream meanings you believe in? one i know i heard alot is if you dream of fish that means that someone is going to have a baby in the family.

I don't believe there are many universal dream translations. Like what you said, dreaming of fish and someone having a baby or dreaming of spiders and being lonely. I don't believe that dreams can tell the future.
I believe dreams are a window into your own mind. What appears in your dreams reflects your subconscious and how you personally feel about things. I think some dreams can have a meaning and some can be completely meaningless.

Dreams happen when our mind is 'free-wheeling'. They can sometimes tell us things about emotions which we are repressing. Our dreams often use imagery to represent things which we can't express directly, even to ourselves. Oddly enough, the images are quite universal and things like snakes, fish, caverns and loads of stuff crop up regularly.
It's not always as simple as it seems to interpret dreams because each one is individual to ourselves. The only person who can really do it is the person having the dream, though someone with experience in the common imagery can help by suggesting interpretations.

I don't know.. I am rather skeptical about all this because I think alot of physcology is hogwash... but that is just my opinion
