My oldest daughter had a blast today.. she is alwasy trying to get into my finger nail polish.. well the past couple days i have been saving our milk jugs and juice jugs.. I cut the tops off and I let her take the finger nail polish to decorate the bottom and the top.. I take the bottom and plant flowers in them and put them on the porch.. then I take the tops and staple them upside down to a tree and put bird seed in them.. My daughter loves it.. any other ideas to use them or ways to do fun recycling things with the kiddos

What a great idea and I bet that made for very pretty flower pots!

That is really cool recycling idea! I will share this with my little Girl Scout troop, if you don't mind! :) I like the idea of using the top for birdseed feeders. Did you poke small holes in the bottom and add rocks for the planter parts too? I think I would; to allow for proper drainage.

I poked holes in the bottom of the milk jugs and the bird feeder tops I just left the top on it and when it rains I can just release the water slowly...I have also thought about making the tops into humbird feeders by just adding sugar water and some food coloring..

hi lillybelledaisyRose I used to cut off the top ot milk jugs and mix fertilizer and water to feed my fuschia plants long time back when we still owned our own home. I have also used them cut down to grow pansies and violets in them, but did not think to decorate them and that would have made them even more attractive.

I grow fuschia's too! I take one milk jug every season and use it for fertilizer feed. Do you remember what you used; or what formula you used for the fuschias? I once saw fertlizer for them, but now I can't find it anywhere! I hope someday to create my version of the fuschia. I need a good greenhouse first!

This is really a good idea, we have plastic bottles of different shape size and color, i cut the upper portion and use the lower as container for forks and spoons on dining table, for brush, tooth paste and tongue scrapper in toilet near wash basin, my wife pastes fancy plastic paper over them to make them look great.. Thanks. God bless you. Have a nice day. Cheers. Prof
