Are you also experiencing abrupt brownouts?

It's when the power shuts off and then turns on immediately after several seconds. In this part of Mindanao, we experience it every day. And it's a crazy tactic of electric companies. It destroys our appliances and worst of all, it increases our bill. I could not remember the last time that this happened. It's like it just happens now. And it's really questionable. The electric companies really owe us explanations on this kind of situation. I'd like to think that they're taking advantage of us, consumers, because it's election time. They're just evil, aren't they?

Here in Valencia, Negros Oriental, we do experience brownouts but sometimes only. It happens during Sundays. Our electric cooperative here will inform the consumers about the scheduled brownouts. Their only reason is repair and maintenance. I believe that they are telling the truth.

Good thing if they are. But here in Mindanao, no clear reason is believed for the brownouts here. Before I used to believe that it's because of El NiƱo only. But now, I'm considering other dirty tactics of these electric companies and, who knows, maybe of politicians also.

hi! hunterkim..It's nice to reply a discussion and the user came from mindanao..Mindanao is one of the place affected by el nino. When there is a great loss of water then you expect that the electricity is also affected. When there is no water there also no electric current because we get our power supply from the damn and damn also needs to have more water in order to supply electricity.

Here in Manila, we are also experiencing the same. The power shuts off then blinks on then off again. I don't really know the real cause behind these power fluctuations and I really am miffed at meralco because even though there are lots of rotational brownouts going on, our bill suddenly skyrocketed. It's really not acceptable and all of us consumers are the ones shouldering the expenses. It's really not fair!

Im also from mindanao particulary in Agusan Norte. Here in our place we experience a rotational brown out for at least 5 hours a day for about 3 months already. What is worst is that they increase their rate per hour. So even if you get a 5 hour brown out everyday your electric bill stays the same. And what really annoys me most is that when I learned that the big ranking employees of this electric company has a free electricity and in that case their bill is passed to the consumer. In short we are paying their bills. What a life!. In my own opinion I don't really think that we have a shortage of power supply, I smell something fishy here, I think it has to do with this coming election. I think that they are trying to condition our mind that brown-outs is common so we will not be shocked anymore when it happens during election time. Let's see, election time is almost coming.
