I am not that fat, but I have flabs all over my upper body. I wanna lose weight. I am female, I weigh 62 kilos and my height is 5'7. I so want to be skinny, probably as skinny as those South Korean girls I see on TV LOL. In the Philippines, our staple food for every meal is rice, but I have been eating only a cup or less of it for more than a year now. But then, I SNACK a lot! I always crave for something, even when I am not hungry, so I go to the nearby store and buy chocolates or chips. I love sweets! I also drink either hot chocolate or creamed coffee every day. Definitely not a good diet, LOL.
Any suggestions for me to stop snacking? Food is my weakness.

I have lost 180 pounds over a 2 year period. I am still in need of another 30. But I didnt lose it from cutting out everything. I took control of my portions. If you drink coffee that's not a big deal. Its what you put into it. I hate the taste of sugar substitutes however, splenda or equal have been said to taste the best. I prefer equal. Also walk alot. If you can walk to work or to the store DO IT! Walking is helpful with getting rid of sugars and it works all the muscles. Snacks are a big factor. I, too, love snacks. What I did was try to change my snacks to less caloric items. CHips are better than cupcakes. Try fruit. Fat free Frozen yogurt. See I couldnt afford all those expensive fat free oreos and things like that. Its like 5 dollars for a box of 6. NO way! Chicken is really good but take off the skin. Try cooking without butter. Walking is the best thing. After you finish eating take a walk. Im telling you the difference will be immediate. You will begin to feel sooooo good. Dont stress yourself with trying to cut out everything all at once. Cut down your portions. Then gradually try taking out different snacks. You will do fine. I promise. So many people look at dieting as the end of the world. If you do it gradually you wont notice much of a change. GOOD LUCK friend. dl

No wonder I'm chubby. Skin is my favorite part of the chicken! LOL.
I remember when I was in college, I lost a lot of weight because I walked a lot there. We students had to walk to our next classes. And I was also very broke while studying that I didn't even have money to eat lunch. So yeah, walking really does magic. It's probably one of my favorite exercises.
I also do not like the idea of cutting out sweets. I have a sweet tooth and I cannot imagine myself not eating sweets, especially chocolates. I would only crave for them even more if I cut them out completely.
Thanks a lot DL!

Wow! You go to the extent of going to the stores to buy your snacks! I'm a snacker but if there aren't any at home, i will forgo it. Thus, my solution is rather simple. Don't buy any snacks. But the problem is I may not be the one buying snacks. Haha...
I know that there are people who say we should replace snacks with more healthy alternatives like fruits and vegetables. Some even mention that we should have ready stock of cut fruits and vegetables in the fridge so you would naturally gravitate towards it. But it didn't work for me. It does sometimes, but not all the time. There are times when I have a sweet tooth like you and only chocolates or sweets would do it. My favourite is chips. I'm terrible!
I guess if your aim is to lose weight, then maybe exercise is the answer and not just refrain from snacking. Trying going for jogs! You will feel great after that.

Haha... No wonder you can go to the store all the time to get your snack. next time find a house far away from the store, so you need to make more effort to get there
Yesterday I just jogged with my family after a long hiatus. I felt how unfit I was. But my daughter was my main motivation. She was running so fast, I just felt that I had to be faster than her.
Anyway, if you love to dance, then just dance. Some of the fittest people in the world are not those who hit the gym, but they are dancers. Bear that in mind!

I guess for me. I would just like to keep my mouth occupied when I am thinking about snacking. So a friend recommended to me to start chewing gum. So now I just chew on gum to fight off the feeling to snack on stuff. Or maybe try eating more filling foods like a bagel or fiber foods like oatmeal.

I guess, you have to work on your metabolism. Eat only fiber-rich foods and have fruits as your snacks, discard those chips and chocolates as those are so full of calories. Minimize your rice consumption. Lessen your sugar intake and shift to teas and lots of water instead of chocolate and carbonated drinks. Have time to exercise, brisk walking and some sit-ups and bending in the morning can help. If you really want to lose some extra pounds, you have to have the determination and will power, fight your cravings. Good luck!

Hi. I don't usually drink carbonated drinks but I'm a fan of chocolate drinks like Milo. I drink it almost everyday, and I like it hot. Unfortunately I don't like the taste of tea, at least the ones in bags (I love iced tea and bottled green tea). I once tried hot tea and I put sugar in it. I had to hold my breath because I couldn't take the taste. LOL. I don't know why I don't like it so much.
Anyway, I realized that I haven't been eating lots of fruits these days. Thanks for the advices!

I think you should eat less chocolates. If you really like chocolates go for the dark chocolates. It is good for your health. With regards to your coffee try drinking black coffee instead of using cream. It will help you lose weight instead of gaining it. You can also try and drink a lot of water to prevent you from craving food.

YES,IT'S ALL IN THE MIND!
if you really want to lose weight why not have regular exercise and always think things that will make you busy, that way you may be able to forget to eat.
well,i myself have problem eating sometimes, because i'm too busy here typing in mylot sometimes i really do forget to eat!
you can try other things like household chores, doing sports, when you feel like you're hungry much on biscuits (not too many) and lots of water!
you are the one who's in control of your health!
so do whatever you needed to do!
or suffer the consequences!

Hahaha, I love the devil emoticon! The thing is, even when I am doing things like typing here on myLot, the thought of eating comes to mind! And what's made things worse is that the store is just beside our house. LOL. Anyway, regarding physical activity, I dance in my room. LOL. I don't like sports, and I love dancing so that's my form of exercise. It feels good when I sweat because I know that I burn calories that way.
Thanks for the response!

Hi MJcookie. Like you, I am also a snacker. I love eating frequently. I like it because I easily get hungry and I always crave for food. But aside from that, I also want to gain weight. I am underweight for now that's why I always try my best to eat as many food as possible. I cannot understand why I don't gain weight despite of having good meals everyday. Maybe, my metabolism works very fast. But in relation to your question, maybe you just have to take control using your mind. Practice not eating frequently if you really want to. It's only in your mind. Just focus on what you really want to do and to have.

Oh I envy you so much! I hate it when thin people eat a lot and still don't get fat, while I am here dying to lose weight yet I don't even shed a pound. LOL. It's all in my mind. You're right. I'd have to practice a little bit more and hope I wouldn't get back to this eating habit. I've been losing and gaining weight for months now. Thanks for the response.

you should engage into sports. enroll in swimming lessons or any kind of sport you wish to play. also, try snacking on healthy foods like yogurts, fruits, salads and the likes. Keeping a food diary is also a good thing coz you get to track what you've eaten and be aware of you're unhealthy diet. but above all, you must have self-discipline and determination so you can resist the temptations. If you don't have it then you won't reach your goal.

maybe eat more the main meal so you will not be hungry sooner. It's only a habit I guess. If you won't have much to spend, you will learn to value money.
