Why Can't We Have Peace on Earth?

I completely agree with you. The first step to achieve peace is to understand that we are all part of this wonderful world we are living in and that we are all linked someway. And whatever our basic psychology of ingroups vs outgroups tells us about different religions, cultures, sports clubs or whatsoever there are definetely more things that we share than things that makes us different. It would probably help if we all understood that there are no universal truth, and that everyone has to find his own truth and that the fact that this truth is different from that found by others doesn't mean that one is right and the other is wrong. Different people find different answers, nobody is right and nobody is wrong, so nobody should fight others to impose their beliefs (things that is sadly done by almost all the main religions). Of course greed for power and money is the other factor that has to be counted. I would also say that greed and power is the main factor that promotes wars, the greedy then use people by exploiting their beliefs,their culture or the will to protect their lifestyle to create an enemy. And the best way to create an enemy is to depict it as something inhumane and completely different from ourself underlining the differences in race, religion and culture. We should be always aware that whatever the media tells us about our so called "enemies" we are always talking about human beings.

Unfortunately, peace on earth has never happened since Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden. Remember Cain & Able? Interesting that the first murder was between brothers. The New Testament tells us that there will never be peace on earth. Nations will fight nations.(Matthew 24:7) Luke 21:16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends. The only peace we can have is in ourselfs. Romans 12:18-21 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "it is mine to avenge; I will repay" says the Lord. On the contray: If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

it was a very nice topic. i think we need to learn about the religion and also we need to faith from god to get a peace on earth. all of the people we need to become one to having a peace on earth. take care always to all of you. and be happy everyday.i think this is the one thing to do to have a peace on earth.

Because everyone is full of hatred and pain inside of them. Its just releasing time by time on us. Lets have love for everyone and learn to forgive.

I am not agreeing with you in this topic. We have certainly peace on this Earth, the only living planet ever known! Peace comes from pure and stable minds and honest efforts! It is not money related, rather it is conscience and humanity related! It is believed that 'Peace' is the most blessed form of 'God'! If you chant 'Peace' for twelve times in a day and twelve times at night regularly with belief and concentration, then as a miracle, 'Peace' will start to follow you in about twelve weeks! Try this simple task! Besides this, I may say that peace has no substitution and it is the absolute necessity of every living organism for progress! Peace is not made itself, we shall have to take care to design and develop it! Non-violence and Truth are the two major supporters of Peace! Our present world believes in Peace and human factors more than that was earlier decades ago! Hope, you got my point and let peace prevail on this Earth for you, me, all myLotters and all around us! Hello my friend I appreciate you for this topic. You're the first person I know here in mylot who posted this kind of topic. I just read it now and I have some biblical reasons why this happen. Only, I can't hardly remember the right verses in the bible. If you believe in the Holy Bible i could state it to you but I have to dig it up yet...if I could accumulate those right verses I will send it right away to you. Yes, I agree very much! It would be nice if we could all get along. There is only one God. I know that's not the point you're trying to make. I love everybody, myself, no matter what race, size they are, culture they are from, or what kind of problems they are dealing with. Like you said, we all have to deal with the same things. I just don't always like the way they do. There have always been wars but I don't know why.

We will not find peace on this earth the way most people are looking for, because it is the wrong kind of peace. The Lord says He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. And He is the only True Peace anyone needs. Because many people has tried to bring peace to this world many times, but it is never enough and will never be satisfied until they actually know the Lord God and have a relationship with Him and follow His ways and find that True Peace.

First I wanna say I'm not trying to offend anyone and hopefully you don't get offended. I think all the different religions has caused some issues all around. causing a lot of disputes.

we need more democrasy in the world.. never happened a war between two democrasies, only between a dictator and others

what you have to remember is as human are animal too, only very few are human, rest are more less animal, so we can not have peace on earth. it would be nice if all world leaders act the same as barack obama, a man who belive in peace... but most of the world leaders are creedy for power and money.

Because some religions/cultures have rules that you must kill the non believers. Then there are people that are greedy, power hungry....

The definition for Peace differs from person to person. If a child is asked for the meaning of peace, they will tell that if they are given their favorite items or products then it will give them peace .for a grown person the peace may be defined as if they are satisfied with their desires they are leading a peacefull life. so it all depends upon the person. If you think that you are happy with what you have then you will find a peaceful life.so think positive and lead a happy and peaceful life.

"Peace" is an utopic human creation. I say that because it is against human nature! We are possessive, agressive, expansionists and hungry for power since the first human walked on Earth.. Either we dominate or we are dominated, my nature and animals or by our brother next to us. We will keep fighting, and peace will continue to be a legend.
