I think all shows lose it's "thing" when they change the cast around. Like when they brought Kara on, and then Paula left, and Ellen came on. Now Simon's leaving. It's just not American Idol anymore.

I seldom watched American Idol too. The singer of today is with impact, still. I like Ellen De Generes there, being a comediene and great host of her own show, she really entertains viewers of American IDOl. what makes me sad is Simon leaving the show. It is like the show will never be the same again without Simon. Simon is harsh and frank with his comments but it really helps the finalist to improve their performance. If you listen to Simon you will really improved. I really don't know what will happen to the show after Simon leave it, but I will surely watch it.

yup, i don't think that the show will be the same without Simon. in his weird but unique way of criticizing the contestants, he really does push them to excel. and the aspirants should get used to it too, because the real world in the music industry is no easy ride for anyone..
it wont be the same without Mr. Simon..

I agree this has been a bad year to me on American Idol. I am not even sure which Idol is the best truthfully. It just hasn't been the same this year without Paula Abdul as a judge and I am not sure how good it will be without Simon. Some things he says seem unfair but a lot of times he is right about what he says.

yup...so many people miss paula. she should come back. as for simon, well...the show would need another 'fire starter' to make sure that there's always issues for all the fans to talk about. if they were to replace him, maybe they can put in a politician, then everyone will for sure be taking pot shots at him and the show's ratings will go higher than ever

I so totally agree with you something is lacking. I think if we have one more season of American Idol that will be a surprise. I can't see the show working without Simon. As for the talent, they are talented but they don't all have the charisma that will take them far in their careers.

exactly..! the producers used to be very responsive towards things like this. they always managed to spice things up and choose the right talent to be on the final 12. but nobody knows what's going on now. hopefully it's not leading up to the end of American Idol...

Yes mario...and all the while I thought i'm the only noticing such a horrendous change with the show. I don't know what happend...maybe there is some kind of change in production staff. The comments of the judges were not as good anymore...they seem unreal and not serious about the development among the contestants. I'm pretty disappointed myself because it places a great impact on the show itself and sometimes when I watch this I sometimes tell myself...what? Are the judges serious of what they are actually saying to the talented top 5 here? The judges are acting like puppets...as if their lines are scripted and they tend to copy each others comments...no originality.
And by the way...they tend to use the word "pitchy" ALL THE TIME. Which is really annoying. Nice topic you started here mario...happy mylotting.

That is what I thought when this season started. There are talents, definitely. But I'm looking for a talent that has a star quality, just like last season's. Maybe that's one thing that is lacking.
Another thing, I don't like the songs that they are singing recently (unlike last year).

exactly..!
it's like the producers aren't paying attention to the essence of the show anymore, which should be song quality & showmanship !
well...if i was the producer of AI, things will be so much different
thanks pierella :)

It surprised me that out of all the thousands of people who auditioned for AI, those were chosen. I don't mean to say that they are not talented at all. It's just that I feel like their voices are mediocre. That's why I don't follow this season. I am a fan of Season 7 and from then on, things started to get boring in my opinion. Also, when Paula Abdul left, the show kinda changed. What more if the infamous Mr. Cowell left as well?
