Globe Telecoms

My patience has run thin. I have been encountering problems with Globe telecoms since February of this year. Globe is my phone and internet service provider. I have been patient with them as much as I can in waiting for them to restore our service, but up to now my phone is still not working. And to make matters worse, they are charging me not one, but two months' worth of service when in fact the service has not been working for more than two months! It seems futile to call their customer service line or visit their service center because they will just promise you that they have made a report and that your request for a technician visit or credit adjustment will be made.
Now, to add insult to injury, Globe has informed me that my service is temporarily disconnected due to non payment. I have never imagined that it is possible for a phone that never rings in the first place get disconnected. The only time that this darn phone rang was when their collections/billing officer called sometime in April to remind me that I have to pay my bill. Which I said I refuse to pay for a whole months' service because the service isn't working. I've talked to too many people on their hotline, and it seem like I am talking to a dummy because nothing gets done. They are not able to contact me when I ask for a technician to call me, but their collections officer is able to get a hold of me even through my cellphone.
Its so sad that here in the Philippines, you have no choice but to pay these providers even if they aren't giving you service. Whats more infuriating is, because my account is tagged as disconnected, I will have to pay for a reconnection fee of over P300 just to have my service reactivated. A service that never works!
I will post as many messages in all forums that I am a member of so that I can bring this matter of how Globe telecoms is scamming their subscribers.

hello anne
i am a globe subscriber, and i don't like what they are doing personally. provided i even downgraded my bundle to keep up with the bills, although it's slower than snail itself but at least i kept up with the pay. well, that's the harsh part of having such an expensive subscriber!

I don't mind paying as long as I get the service that I am paying for, not three to five days of internet in a month and no dialtone. When Globe offered their services, they assured us that we would not encounter technical or service problems that we experienced with their wireless service because this is wired or cabled. Thank you for your response.

It would be pretty frustrating when efficient services are not being delivered..

I wish I could just switch service providers, but Globe will charge me with an early termination fee if I do so! Its like being stuck with an unhappy marriage here in the Philippines.

yeah that is the bad part of it. when you terminate your contract you end up paying for the whole plan or even more then have your connection disconnected also which is much worse than just wait for your plan to reach it termination period by itself.

Hello there,
Sorry about your experience with globe. I have been hearing complaints too about the bad service of globe so some of them switched to other networks. I am a smart subscriber in mobile phone, for my net connection I am using a smartbro. I must admit that when I used the tattoo of globe it feels like eternity waiting for the signal until I was exasperated. It is also bad news that we are obliged to pay for the payment even if we never use the service or the service is bad. This should be corrected because some networks seem like abusing their clients.

This is exactly what I am thinking of right now. We don't have any consumer services law that can protect us if ever our service providers don't provide what we pay for. Its sad that we don't have lawyers like in the US where I can sue these telecom companies. But I might try. It has been very inconvenient for us and yet they are harassing us to pay. Thank you for your response.

globe isn't as reliable as it used to anymore. it's not just globe that's been having problems, i've encountered such problems with suncellular too. but i don't complain much with the company's services because their services cost cheap hehe. i think smart is the most reliable these days.

I'm also currently experiencing sort of the same problem. For almost a month now, my internet speed is as slow as dialup, even though I'm on a 1mbps plan. I've called tech support many times and all they can do is promise something that never happens. One more weird thing is prior to having this problem, I called to upgrade my plan, a week have past and they have not responded until I get this problem and decided to cancel the upgrade.
Until now, I can't use my home computer for activities like myLotting and the likes. The last that I've heard of from them was the then on-going issue have been resolved, yet my speed is still slow. They even blame my computer for it. I am certain that my computer is clean of virus/spyware infection but for them to eliminate my computer as a factor, I will format it tomorrow and if the speed is still the same, they will be forced to do something.

I am sorry to hear about your concern on Globe Telecoms service. I know how you feel and that's very frustrating. If it will happen to me, I will also not pay due to a service that never works. Globe also has a facebook account, you can try to send a message to them and bring up your concern. What I can advise you when you call their customer service hotline again, you should demand for a supervisor so that they can do further actions. You can also ask the supervisor to waive the reconnection fee for you since the non-payment reason is due to a service that is not working and not in your behalf of delinquency. I hope this will help you and may Globe Telecom resolve your concern as soon as possible.

I had that same experience a long time ago. I have been hit by Ondoy and their cabinets out of commission because it got hit by flood. I have to call a hundred times before they have restored my phoneline. They changed my phone number with a new one and the internet was not restored back in time. Although since I was so persistent in reporting and following up with their customer service they already stop billing me and they restored back my billing right after they have restored my telephone line. I think that is what you should do as well. No matter they keep on saying that they will try their best continue on and be persistent. Always remind them that they should reflect that with the billing or else you won't pay them their bill.

I think what you should do, aside from pestering them everyday in a desperate attempt to get them to do something about your complaint, is to switch to pldt dsl, i heard that it gives the best service among its competitors. When our phone was not working for a month, we did not pay a month's service in compensation for the 30 days that we had no dial tone. Although the technician took ages to arrive, since it was the height of the milenyo typhoon, at least they didnt cheat their customers by charging them for a non-existent service.

Hi Anne! It's sad that you have so much trouble with your internet provider. We are using Smart bro for almost one year and more. But this is the second time we choose to use Smart Bro. And they are pretty fast in answering technical problems to other customer complaints or inquiries we had. The longest time we had to wait for a technician to come up here. We live in Bulacan by the way. Not in the main city but far neighborhood around the city, "barangay". So the longest wait, was three days. And so far, we are pretty satisfied with their services. So far the only complain I have about them is that when you want to get temporarily disconnected you have to pay around 350 for it. But when you want to stop it for good, you don't pay anything.
But still in your case, if it is a new account you have to wait for the one year contract before you can get rid of their services. Or pay the fine for it. Have you tried to report your case to the NTC? I think they can help you on it. Try to contact them or pay a visit to their office. It might work. They are supposedly the public office or company to which we can raise our concern about telecommunications complains. They said.
I hope you can get a solution to your problem soon. If it was for me, I won't be that patient I can tell you. I might even drag a technician down, if I can..LOL..

I live in Rizal and its not as remote as people think. It doesn't take a carabao to get to my village, and we have real roads, not dirt roads. So I can't understand why no technician ever comes to our place. Oh, I know the reason why. Because the technicians fear for their lives because I am not the only subscriber who is experiencing this problem. I remember a week ago, Globes' service van came by and parked on our street and sure enough a throng of neighbors came rushing to them asking why and when our service will be restored. I don't think they were able to do what they needed to do because they sure left in a hurry. My service with them will be a year old in August. I will try to contact the NTC and some lawyers by tomorrow because this problem is really annoying and inconvenient for us. Thank you for your response.

Wow it seems like globe's inefficient service is widespread among your whole village, lol, in tagalog, the service men were 'dinumog' hehe. How come they dont do anything about it when a whole town or village is already complaining? What a lousy company. With that said, i dont think i'd buy the globe tattoo usb modem. I'll stick with my dial-up connection, it only costs P100 per month! Hehe.

i used sun with my cellphone when i still don't have a laptop and i do a lot of surfing and mylot activities. and when i got my laptop, i asked a lot of people who have used mobile, wireless, and even cabled or lined internet. most of them preferred smart, so i got smart. there are some interruptions but very minimal and my only problem is the billing which never comes, though it's not really a problem since i can get the bill statement online.

globe telecoms had always been a problem for me: it's cellphone signal is bad in my place. well, i can still receive texts but only in certain positions in the house. we got globe as our internet provider first then cancelled it as globe definitely has a bad cell site in the barrio where we chose to live.

Globe is my internet provider as well and my contract expires until October. Can't wait till that month. It also includes a landline but nobody can get through the number . I also have to use the area code to contact a certain number which means the charge is equivalent for long distance even if it's in the same area.
We've been complaining about these stuffs from the very beginning we subscribed but they aren't doing any action, just have to wait till October and we're done with Globe

We have the same problem! I knew there were a lot of people with the same problems, just haven't found them yet.
Just got off the phone yelling at some unfortunate agent. Our woes started right after Ondoy. I live in Provident and so naturally our phone drowned in the flood. I had it disconnected for about 3 months while we were repairing the house. Guess what? Globe charged us for the 3 months of disconnection, then had the gall to charge us a reconnection fee. To top it all, there was no real internet connection for 3 months after that! We complained all the way to NTC, and for a while somebody called to update us with the repair of the internet. So 7 months from Ondoy, although we are overpaid, we are still being charged.
I will continue yelling at them until they all become deaf or somebody does something about it.

Hi anne25penn
I feel sorry for you,and so is Globe Telecom!
as an service provider Telecom should provide its customer its
best service , make sure customers satisfiedand take serious
care of the customers' complaint.
however what happens to you in fact does not coincide with
a great company.
if things like this continues,Globe Telecom will pay for it someday.

my advice: GO PREPAID!
I use Globe Tattoo for my internet and I get the supersurf220, unli internet for 5 days and though the connection is slow at least it's unlimited.
Really, if the service is that bad, better cut your subscription.
