My other half is always saying to me that I think too much about everything, and that I shouldn't do because it can make you feel stressed or frustrated about things. I dont know for sure whether that is true, but to be honest... How do you stop yourself from thinking? I am forever thinking about different things that are on my mind, like my kids, my family, things that I have to do, money worries etc etc. If I dont think about things I think I would worry more about everything. I like to plan things in my life too, I dont live life on the edge, I just like to make sure that everything is right. So what do you think is it a bad thing to think?

Thinking more than necessary is not healthy. If you can't help but think, try to read entertaining books. They always say that to free your mind, you must indulge in different activities. Thinking more and more will only consume most of your energy. What good is thinking? What do you do after thinking? If you don't act on the things you think about then it's probably a waste of time and energy. Have fun with your family instead. And if you are concerned with your face, may I remind you that too much thinking helps in the development of wrinkles.

HI there. I too think too much about everything. I like to internalize everything. I think its okay to think, it also exercises you brain when you think and thinking in advance could prevent accidents or solve problems faster, but you must give yourself a break every once in a while so that you wont be stressed.

Well, I think there is nothing harm in thinking unless you are getting ill out of it. You seems a nice and cool man as you think about your kids, and that is all for a nice and bright life. I too think a lot about my family and it is not bad at all. I wish you all the best. Do things nice and prosper in life. Positive thinking is often one of the most therapeutic ways. Thinking is important because otherwise we would just be mindless animals.Thinking is what makes us different from other animals. Also, with thinking we can avoid danger.

It depends on what you're thinking. If you're always thinking about things that worries you but you can't do anything about it, it isn't worth it thinking. But if you're thinking productive or planning then it's worth thinking.

I second the motion and I was about to say that it depends on what you are thinking. Added to that not only the full of worries that is not worth to think but the hatred as well. If we are also thinking something inspiring and sometimes if we are reminiscing then it is also worth thinking.

I am also always thinking. And I never stop. Actually i can´t stop it! And i doubt it is able to be stopped if someone is similar like me. I think there exist two types of people. The ones who think all the time about everything and people who don´t like thinking at all and they don´t care. Without thinking it wouldn´t be me. Yea..it is making me feel bad sometimes, stressed, depressed, worried, but i can´t do anything against it.
Honestly i think, that from stress and depression can take u away just a person who is near to you. Listen to you, helps u, try to understand you and listen to your thoughts which u want to share.

Hi rosie230,
I think it is better that you thinking. At least you would have though about how certain actions lead to certain reactions or consequences. There are some people who just don't think but still act, resulting in their own destruction, or worse, the destruction of others.
However, there is another side to thinking. Sometimes when we think too much, we fail to act. For example, if you are an investor and you keep thinking about how this affect the stock market and how that affects the stock market, you will find that you won't find the right time to invest. So if your thinking leads to inactivity, then it is a bad thing.
BUt from what I can tell, you think and then plan, which is superb!

Thinking is never wrong as long as we think about good, wonderful, beautiful, right, and great things that is profitable. Exercising the mind is a great way to improve our mental capacity and sharpness. However, there are times when thinking becomes bad when we think of negative things and it is true that it may be stressing. I hope that you continue to think of good things not minding what others may say.

I would love to say thinking is a horrible thing, but if we do not take the time to sit back and think things through and try improve them then nothing will ever change.
My best friend always tells me I over think things, which is probably true. I tend to think about the negative things most of the time and before anything positive...but I almost feel that is natural because I want to change the negative into positive. It is extremely stressful and frustrating but if I push it to the back burner then things will never change for the better.

I can completely relate to your overthinking, since i am an overthinker too. I believe that even if thinking too much some times can be bad to your mood if you spend too many time worring about potential problems, it is a good thing because it makes you understand reality better and makes you an overall better person.
The difference between humans and animals is our ability to think before an action instead of using just instincts, this is how we are made we are intended to use our brain not to let it sleep all the time in front of tv commercials :D

no, thinking is not a bad thing but over thinking is bad, because it effects a lot to your health. so, we must be thinking on everything around us but just as much as required and not trying to just submerge ourselves in it and like drowning in the sea of thoughts

Well we cannot get away from thinking as long as we are alive and our brains is working. We even think when we are sleeping. If you mean thinking about things that worries you most, like it's already paranoia then I think this one is not good. You can get away from this by making yourself busy and do something else.

Hello rosie230,
It's not a bad thing to think. It's perfectly normal to plan things and worry about stuff in our lives. But, sometimes we tend to "over think" or over analyze things. Sometimes we are so much into details that we forget to just enjoy the view. Remember, we only live once and sometimes thinking too much and worrying too much could create a distance between us and our loved ones. It helps to stay positive, count your blessings, and believe that you have the capability to take on whatever life has to offer. I know you do. :) These thoughts can help lessen stress.
