Yes do not get diheartened. I have worked with autistic children before they love you but do not want to express their love in any way.they hear you see you and feel you but do not know how to come out and tell you. their spirits are truely locked up inside them I will look for the book I read while I was working with them. It was written by an autistic person herself.if she can write a book why can you not. Believe in God he chose you because you were capable of taking care of this child. He never gives us tasks that we can not accomplish. If we fail then we fail his judgement too.
Do not lose hope if the path you are treading seems all uphill just remember god is walking each step with you too.

Absolutely! Have you researched music therapy as an option? I have worked with children with different learning and physical abilities and I believe that there are always options.

just wanted to mention that these autistic kids are actually highly intelligent but unable to express themselves and do understand the concepts of many things they are just trapped within themselves and unable to show that they understand (this is of course an oversimplification of what excactly goes on within an autistic child but true nonetheless)

i think its great that you are so optomistic about your sons future because you have every reason to be, there has been so much new research done on autism and how to help children living with it, my babysitters mother does music therapy with autistic children and has had a lot of success helping them with this method. take care

i beleive there is limitless hope for parents of autistic children, hope their children can be happy and have a wonderful meaningful life. One great therapy for autistic children that i recently came across was music therapy, it can be used many ways to help. if our bodies are still breathing there is always hope. thanks for starting a great discussion, im sure many people will be able to contribute and learn from this when the responses start coming. + for starting good discussion

yes there is hope for parents with children with autism.. i know from experience that the road is long and hard and fustrating at times.. but being persistant and determined to provide the best possible care and love and the support of friends and family will get you through these challenges that face us everyday...don't give up hope / the secret to working through these changes is to take everyday single day as a new day and face it with joy and compassion.. these children and their parents didn't ask to come into the world this way but raising any child with a disability is a new learning experience and teaches us about ourselves and how we take things for granted where they do not.. so please never give up hope!!!!!

It has been said that children with autism are not less able to interact, but rather receiving so much information that it is almost impossible to chose which input to interact with.
Often such children are highly intelligent yet unable to convey ideas and thoughts.
In the last decade there has been more research and information dispersed on autism and aspergers than ever before.

i have a nine year old autistic son "andy".. he is the light of my life!... there is hope.. he has progressed so much since he was little.. i cant even begin to say.. it would be a book! seeing his growth and hearing him say "i love you too" (even though i've gotta say it first!) and knowing that I play such a tremendous role in helping this child grow into a wonderful loving caring individual makes me feel great! YES there is hope!.. feel free to add me as a friend!
