Hi mylotters! I would like to know what do you think about subdomains like those .Co.CC. Do you use them or do you prefer top level domains like .com, .net or .org?
Personally I think a top level domain looks more professional. I like .com and .net. The bad news about those domains is that they are not free, a .com costs about 10 dollars... although it could be a good investment if you are planning on making money with your site.
I like .Co.CC domains too, they don't look as professional as top level ones but I like them and they are free!
So, what do you think? Do you have any .Co.CC domain or you just stick with top level domains?

I think it is good for testing purpose, because it's free. Then if you find you are on the right direction, maybe you could step to better service. I had search some free domain several months ago, but it's hard to find any. So, co.cc ... I think it's great opportunity... not much site that provide domain for free...

The only time I got a free domain was back in 1998 or 1999. Back then name.com was giving away free domain names and I got a .net. It was just a redirect and it showed a banner on a frame but the frame could be removed using javascript. That free domain was available for just a few months.
Since then the only free domains I have found are subdomains like co.cc

I have a .com, .net top level domains and the free .tk and co.cc domains under the same name. (yeah, that's allowed)
They have different uses actually. Top level domains are good when you have money and your site is actually worth investing on: such as making a website you can sell stuff on. That's exactly what im doing with my top level domains.
Free domains like .tk and co.cc work better for less-important things, or those that you want to see online but hidden from search engines since un-free domains are prioritized higher. They work like this because co.cc domain will not be free after the first year if you ever decide to sell anything on that domain.
I use the free domains for my team's forums and miscellaneous things, while the top level domains as the actual "public" sites.

The last time I used a dot tk domains they were just url redirects, and also there was a banner on everypage. Dot tk domains are free but I remember that to get full dns control it's needed to purchase the domain and it costs about 9 or 10 dollars, about the same a .com or .net
I personally don't like those domains, I like better co.cc because you get full dns control and they are free for non commercial use and cost just 3 dollars for commercial use.

Don't worry, .tk domains now have full DNS support and doesn't have banners anymore. They're better than co.cc domains for now unless if they decide to change their service.
As far as service goes, .tk and co.cc are equal, but .tk is shorter so it would actually be convenient.
