Ace is dead in the manga!!!! WHY????

Why'd he die? I mean he's the coolest guy i know in the story and i was really excited knowing that a part of the story would center on Ace. But i literally didn't expect HIM to die. He's like the one of the strongest guys i know in one piece and i was really hoping to see Luffy and Ace battling each other for the One Piece. Really, a disapointment, but it's how the story goes so I'll probably still read the manga and wait if anything still happens.
