The FAQ says (http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx#3) :
"You will need a user rating of 100 before you are able to receive a reputation."
I thought that every member was receiving a star and a reputation at the 100th user rating -- I received mine at 100 --, but this morning I saw a member with an user rating of 105 and no star. I don't understand why.
Did this happened to you or did you noticed this before ?

I saw that user too and I thought that they would become famous sooner or later
The colour of your star is decided upon the percentage of plus ratings that you receive from others when they rate your posts. The more plusses the higher the value of your star.
The stars go from 1 to 10, and 10 is the highest.
A percetage of plusses of:
- 95.51+% = blue star (10)
- 85.51+% = red star (9)
- 75.51+% = yellow star (8)
- 65.51+% = silver star (7)
- 55.51+% = pink star (6)
- 45.51+% = green star (5)
- 35.51+% = purple star (4)
- 25.51+% = brown star (3)
- 15.51+% = can't remember colour (2)
- 5.51+% = pale blue star (1)
- no plusses or more negatives = no star
If a user receives no plusses (and possibly more negatives) for their posts before they reach 100 then they will gave no star at all. At this point they should ask themselves what was wrong with what they contributed and work hard to rectify the situation because the value of the star affects our earnings too.
We are also told in the FAQS that abusing the rating system (DRS) affects our own star.
disclaimer: I might have the colours in the wrong order for the lower value stars

Thank you, mysdiana. I saw one or two members with a reputation of 2 (I think it's a grey star), but I never saw a 1, and I was not aware that less than 1 was possible at myLot .
At this point, maybe this member is proud to be approved unanimously ?

Those that help and advise, and in particular when they advise that a violation has occurred, are often rewarded negatively, especially in the latter case.
I may not have gathered a higher colour but I have made a lot of friends here and that is worthwhile too
It did appear to be moving in the right direction but then ground to a halt once again. It could be worse so I will plod on regardless and who knows one day...

I don't give a - every week -- I have not gave one this week -- and I give hundreds of +. To get a - from me a member has really to flame and to be totally off topic. I am here to learn from others, I respect their opinions, and I appreciate the posts of some members with a low rating that I don't understand. Yours is not low, but I don't understand it too : you are always making quality posts and are always helpful. We are all in the same boat and it's why we have to respect some limits too : in this particular case, I remember that I tried to help and gave what was a good response for me ; I was flamed in return of the trouble. I did not rated the comment but I avoid the discussions started by this member now.
Thanks again for this very good comment .

Hi rsmanik !
You will get a star (a reputation rating) when you will see a (100) near your user name, if -- I did not knew that, and it was the goal of this discussion -- you have more than 5.51% plusses : read the post of mysdianait above.
Have a nice day.
