horizontal lines on photos taken on digital camera

my almost 1 yr old digital camera have this problem, whenever i take pictures outside or in brightly lit areas, the photos appear to be white and blurry and horizontal lines appear...
i never dropped the cam and im very careful with my stuff.
what happened?
my cam is a canon powershot a470.

You mentioned you took photos in bright sunlight. One possibility is you shoot facing the sun. This can cause blurring and foggy pictures and perhaps lines appearing. You should always have the light behind you and on the subject. In brightly lit areas, always use a lens hood to prevent stray lights from bouncing back into your lens. This can cause "lines" or "streaks". Hope that helps.

do u think the lighting might need some adjustment? i think u can adjust the brightness and tint. i hope it works..

I guess that you must buy a new one, because
according to that what you have mentioned
the problem is in your matrix, and if it is so
than there is nothing you can do. :(
it is really bad, but you must also check what the service people
willsay to you.
have you took some pictures aaginst the sun?
I mean directly against it?
