Mylot is over-exposed!

I know mylot is one site that is fun but recycling the same old topic on mylot interest is boring and nauseating. Mylot is definitely one of the best social site around but complimenting and bragging about mylot in discussions might only give the reverse effects. We are expecting interesting topics here only to read topics about mylot or associated with mylot which have been repeatedly discussed previously but only worded differently are a frequent sight here. What else can you say about this site that your readers don't know? The answers are all found in FAQs. Exposure is good as it is advertising in itself but don't you feel bored reading the same old story?

Yes sometimes I sure do get tired of the same discussion or one like it ...
However, the person/member who opened the discussion was serious and intent on knowing or sharing with us..........
Let them have their day and answer as nicely as possible.

I get your point Zandi.
There are still many other topics that could be discussed in this interest but it seems that there is a slowdown in new original topics. I have one in store which I hope will meet with your approval - but it is going to have to wait until the final episode is written
It will not be promoting myLot as such but I hope will be an eye-opener for the new users (and some of the others too).

Hi diana, yours is definitely a specialized subject. And you have all this while been a savior to many newbies and oldies alike in providing very informative knowledge on mylotting. You should not be unduly worried of what is being said in this post. Probably, you too have noticed that interests on mylot discussions are quite popular here.

I do indeed notice that they are popular but they all keep saying the same thing. I guess that makes us even more aware of how many, or how few, actually read any of the links that they are supposed to read if they want to do things correctly here.
All the complaints... if only they would stop posting and read for an hour. They would earn so much more because it pays to read!

If I do not find any worthwhile discussion, I comment back on the previous discussions that I have responded and commented. And, mind you, WE EARN for commenting a lot as well.
We earn for what we type here. So, my advice to all the 200k mylotters out there:
comment a lot, respond a lot and discuss a lot...
Your earnings will fall in your LOT....

I sure do & some of the discussion topics are boring to. I may bore people w/my discussion , i hope not but some just seem to write any old crazy thing & expect people to respond. Being on mylot has never been about the money not that it doesn't come in handy but i think that's all some people think about.

Of course they do but i still think some of the topics people choose are ridiculous. My favorite ine is " which came first the chicken or the egg'. who gives a hoot. Thanks goodness, i have not seen this lately.

i guess each one has a different notion of what is interesting. i'm still relatively new to mylot and i've looked at previous discussions that have had no or few responses. i find some of them interesting but am hesitant to post a response because they've been stagnant for some time. should i post a response anyway or start a new discussion on a similar topic?

Welcome to mylot. Everyone of us has been there and experienced the early days of being a newbie. It will take time to make your presence felt. In the meantime, respond to as many discussions as you can which is where you create a goodwill among mylotters.

I do not read any such repetititve discussions Zandi. But, as far as answers being found in FAQ, there may be some people who are a bit lazy to find it out and would prefer some readymade answers. THis also enables them to get some discussion topics of their own. Let them have their fun and I am sure there would be some friends who support them and respond to them. THere are so many new entrants here and people may not always know how to go about it. I just ignore them if some discussion catches my eye and go about to other discussions started by friends or those that interest me.THis is one advnatage of being moderatley active here.

I agree Hatley but it is even more unfortunate then.THese people would realise it only when their discussions are deleted and there will still be new entrants who do that again a nd again. We can do nothing but just avoid such discussions. As I ahd metioned I am only moderatley active ehre and so I am able to pick discussions thta interest me.

kalav56 how much fun can it be it they get their discussions deleted because they broke mylots rules on making discussions about questions already answered in the mylot questions and answers, they do not get paid for deleted discussions even if they made a ton of deleted discussions and all the people who responded did not make a penny either as they were deleted, so how much fun is that? and why cannot they read the information they are not blind or they would not have been able to type out thedeleted discussions.their friends can support them til hell freezes over and they will still be working and responding for nothing as the responses are also deleted and not paid.

HI Zandi!
Yeah, it is very true that discussion gets repeated and more so about mylot. New members keep starting similar looking posts, asking very mundane questions. We, who are here for considerable period of time, feel that we have replied/seen some particular posts many a times in different forms. You are right that least they can do it to go through FAQs and this will help them solve many of their issues/doubts.
Have a great day!
Deepak

Hi Deepak,
I totally agree with you. I have seen many discussions are repeated and it really sad. I don't understand, why members start discussion which are already here at myLot. This will only increase the number of same discussions and members who have interest in response won't have any interest. Even I have seen so many similar discussions and avoid the same. I look for some interesting one which make you feel better and you response. Yes, FAQ may help them but how many of them read FAQ. I afraid, if the new member read it or not..
Have a nice time.

Hi Zandi,
I can understand what you are saying and yes it can be a little repetetive at times, if you want to look back on some of my older discussions when I first joined you will find ones about all different things, but being a newbie not many got answered so turned to responding instead to discussions. LoLo

hi zandi you sure brought up a valid point,we have all sort of over done the praising of mylot and surely we can all pick our brains for some new topics even if they are spoofing some of the lame one lines what is your favorite flavor of ice cream., like asking if you have ever eaten your favorite flavor while horseback riding or dancing or, well anything, but we all have pretty much covered how much we all like mylot. Yes it does get boring and at times I respond and wonder if this discussion is the straw that makes mylot admins delete it as another praise our mylot discussion. so lets all put on our thinking caps and come up with some new topics.

I just choose what topics interest me. I don't really mind. If i like the topic, then i would express my thoughts on it.

I am still fairly new; but I belong to the social money making sights and therefore have some experience with this. I have been finding it rather disgruntling when I open MyLot to only find it filled with one line posts or broken English, slang and or text style writing. How I am I suppose to comment on those types of posts? Come on!!! I have been 'picky' choosing friends on here; thos with quality and depth are on my friends list and I often refer to them for things to comment on. It helps!

Then it is understandable why you are picky in choosing your circle of friends. Like me, many members here are not from English speaking background, some might not be able to express themselves effectively but as long as they are understood then half the problem is solved.

I earnestly agree with you Zandi and for that matter most of us would have to agree with you as we ourselves have felt the same and raised this issue in different forms at different times. In fact it also has become a very much repeated discussion, ‘the quality of the Mylot’.
As long as the people are making discussions for the penny in their mind we cannot expect more quality discussions here. For most of them each and every letter looks like a dime.
Secondly if most of us are hell bent on submitting only quality discussions at least part of the problem will be solved. It is a combined effort to keep the quality of this decent forum.

I agree with you on this. I try to be very selective when responding to discussions about MyLot these days. I feel that there are too many so I just scan over most of them. I have commented on far too many in the past that have been deleted, so I try to avoid them as much as possible now. I prefer to spend my time discussing more interesting things that are unique and which have not been brought up over and over again.
