Can you remember what was the first record/CD that you ever bought and why?

I certainly can!!
It was December 1962, the occasion was my first year Christmas dance at grammar school.
The dancing was ballroom - the boys school and girls school practised together for weeks before, of course we all hated this dancing - this was the sixties and we had different ideas to music.
In the interval pupils were allowed to play their own records on a record player on the stage.
My friend, who had relatives in Germany, had a copy of a record by a new band that she had heard of through her German relatives - this group were called The Beatles, the record was called Love Me Do.
The minute I heard it I knew that I was in love with a type of music and a band I'd never heard before.
That weekend, with my hard earned money from my Saturday job on the local market, I marched into 'The Music Box' - our local record shop and bought a copy of the record.
I was so pleased - that was until I got home, and realised I didn't own a record player!!
There was a happy ending though, I was given my cousin's old Dansette record player!
Happy days!!!

My first album was a xmas present , it was Adam & The Ants "Kings Of The Wild Frontier " and i played it continuously . my dad never forgave my mum for buying it me and still goes on about it now . I even went to school with a white stripe on my nose and wore a frilly shirt , all my friends and i formed a gang called Adams Anteetes. When i think back now to then ( 1980's) i am horrified , i used to think i was so cool and trendy lol .

I remember that the first audio CD I brought was by my favorite boyband Westlife. If I'm not mistaken I was still in 1st year high school then. Even though the cover's torn out already, I still and will treasure it for the rest of my life because Westlife was, is and will always be the boyband of my life. whew!
