This has been a worrying factor for India for many years now. After Kapil Dev, there hasn't been any noticeable fast bowlers in India. By good fast bowlers, I do not mean Agarkar, Nehra, Praveen Kumar etc...
I do mean bowlers like Shane Bond, Bret LEE, Mcgrath, Pollock, Malinga, Dale Steyn, Allan Donald, etc...
Indians are not getting enough pace like the above mentioned bowler does...
Over the years, India has produced a lot of great batsman but failed to produce fast bowlers. What really is the problem with India?

I think India in a very miserable position as we are not producing and world class spinners as well as fast bowlers. I don't know what's going on in MRF Pace Academy. Though there are some good bowlers produced but not even a single great fast bowler produced in so many years.

for me the problem is really the pitches in india.if u want to produce a great fast bowlers like mcgrath and wasim you have to give proper training along with some bowler friendly wickets.when they got the confidence at their early stage then they will become a very good fast bowler

Well first of all Kapil Dev too is not an fast bowler, he was great swing bowler. India is huge country and selectors keep on picking players they like most and this why India is not able to produce good pace bowlers. Most of the pace bowlers in India are not that well build as that of Shane Bond, Brett Lee, etc but Zaheer Khan is decent bowler in my view and he is showing consistence from past few years. Praveen Kumar is good swing bowler but not a pace bowler and having a lot of pace like of that of Lee or others.. There are many talented young players but selection policy of selecting pace bowlers is something which is ruining most of the talented players careers.

I think munaf was in media for a while for his pace of about 145-150.
but yes India has always struggled the lack of quality seemers who can bowl it at a real pace.
the reason may be that the Indian pitches are not bouncy.so the fats bowlers will not get good support.so from the childhood they give more emphasis to swing and line and length, rather than pace.
also Indian and Asian and not so strong lads. Our genes are such.
