Even TOPIC starters do not respond to comments in their own threads.

It is disgusting when I find that those who start a topic, with all earnest and hope, get good comments, and seldom reply to that. I know you do not get a count to the number of posts, if you keep replying to the comments in your own topic. BUT, is it not a courtesy? And, I DO NOT feel like rating minus as a rule. But, now I am in a situation to change my rules. HOW IS THAT? Topic Starters! Please respond to the comments in your topic

I think this topic has been covered by few already---coming to me i'm more at ease to start discussions than to respond which is boring atleast for me and i do attend all the boxes in my posts---i have been skipping a few these days---not that i do not like their responses but i have no time to add so many comments at a stretch.Great day.

The 'toppers' is an achievement but look at the 'hot's. Those are the ones that make the daily Digest When were you knighted Sunny? I don't recall any celebrations

aahh...it's refreshing indeed to see such passion in a fellow myLotter! kudos to you CT, and champagne all around once i've got the hang of myLot, i do try and respond to as many responses that i receive. but somehow responding to all those responses in a responsive time and being adequately responsible in responding is quite demanding to the responder who is responding to the response posted by the original responder... but i still try to respond anyway to everyone..

that is what is expected from the starter. Atleast, one response. Not to everyone. but, we both, and a few of our friends here in mylot are some exceptions. thanks for coming all the way to an old topic.. .. my trip started well. just got the laptop again, for fifteen minutes. will try to use reasonably

i like being an exception. it's like i'm special haha... well, we all try to do what we can. but in true myLot style, we earn when we discuss. so it really makes sense for us to try and respond to whatever comes to us in hopes of starting a discussion. the more jolly the discussion the better it becomes still in the middle of your trip? managed to sneak in a few minutes for myLot? careful there...the wifey might catch you having more fun here than on your holiday! hehe...

Not everyone does it...but sometimes it seems like the initial topic starter has not responded. This could be due to lack of time...especially for the ones that start many discussions around the same time. Even for me....who does not start discussions regularly....sometimes it takes me a while to comment back. My discussions might look comment-less for a few days before I can get back to comment. But what I've started doing now is to comment back on one or two at least so that people do not assume that I will never comment. Not all mylotters who do not comment back fall in this category and I've seen the kind of discussions you are talking about where NONE of the responses have got any comments from the initial poster...except for the BR sometimes.

yes. I have taken time to check out the few topics, before i started this topic. And, alas, a few comments here were deleted by admin, for being harsh, and not following the guidelines . Anyhow, It is a happy lot here. Thanks for sparing wonderful words.

Please enlighten us here because there are certain factors in you topic which are not clear. - When does it become 'disgusting'? How long is the time period that you are prepared to wait for the topic starter to return and leave you a comment? You make no mention at all. I can only presume, from your own started discussions that have still many responses left unattenxded, that you will allow us at least 2 years? - You have your own rules regarding the DRS (Discussion Rating System)? I see nothing to suggest that refraining from commenting to responses is worthy of a minus (negative) rating. Indeed we are told: " Be considerate of other users in a discussion." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx While I am in full agreement that unless there is some communication from the topic starter on at least some (and preferably all) of the responses, a topic does not not become a discussion, I also believe that if we practice what we preach and go about setting an example for others to follow, from which they will benefit, we might be of more help

all i can say, and will do say is... I suddenly disappeared some two years back, as I lost interest. In total internet. and, when I returned, found most of my friends of that time to have forgotten ... and there is no meaning to revive the 2 year old topics. You are very STRONG and HARSH to put expose my weaker side as a point here.. Now, , as mentioned in response to others, I surrender. It was in an emotional flare-up that I used the word disgusting. I do not want to name the topic where I got this impulse. Again, I hope, now that I surrendered, a horde of invitations for friendship. Do I really deserve? Btw, Dear Diana, can I send you the request. You can delete me, in a day or two. I want to ask you something else. in a message, preferably.

I may appear both strong and harsh but appearances can be deceiving. I just tried to make a balance and try and even things out a bit here because this started out very much sounding like you were there holding a stick in your hand ready to cane any of us who don't get back to you You have explained your reasons and in the same way that you have yours, many users will have their own too. As the response above says, if we do not comment back then it is OUR own loss in terms of earnings and we possibly will lose out in future as those users who do not hear from us again will avoid our new discussions. You can certainly send a request. No need for permission to do so and once I accept, unless there is something extremely disconcerting afterwards, I never delete a user from my list

I agree with you as it is a big waste of time for them to even post a discussion if they aren't going to comment on the responses they receive. I woulod never think about starting a discussion without commenting back to the responses I receive. It is rude not to, and I think those that don't comment back, think they don't have to, as they think they will earn without them, but they just don't realize that they need to comment as they won't earn. Of course the ones that don't comment back, are the ver ones who start one discussion right after another, so they can earn and earn, but they would be in for a surprise when they don't. Good luck to you and happy mylottin.

well. i am very very happy to get you all into this topic. And, thank you for the roses. It is all a mad rush, that is what I came to know. Those who responded here, all have enough busi-ness, but cared to come back frequently. But, alas... others are still the same old lot. happy mylotting.

Sometimes I get a little bit disappointed when i respond to a discussion and the starter ignores that response and does not comment. there may be various reasons for that like he might have got so many responses,or our response is very similar to the response posted by someone else before,or he might be busy!! Some people are here only for money they do not think it as a better way to earn may be!
• India

yeah. All in the money. sometimes such people just start useless discussions also just to increase the number and get money. If they continue the approach the responders may get disappointed and never response. It is not good for them only. anyhow I am glad u commented to my response at least!!!lol.

A friend who'd been here for a while told me that they won't earn anything unless the response had been commented on. Haven't monitored it yet but i trust the info.

We certainly do not earn for a response that another user has posted. We earn for what we type not for what others type. Added to that is the fact that a topic with no interaction is a question with a series of answers and not a discussion. MyLot is a discussion site therefore it is logical that we earn once we turn a topic into a discussion by commenting on the responses that we receive on the topics that we start. There is a line in the FAQs, which those who have read them carefully will have noticed, which confirms this: "If you earned nothing, then you didn’t post anything..." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx#20

responding to comments for those who comments to your post even if it didnt include in the number of your post didnt mean you will not earn from them, as its says in tos that you will earn everytime you make a post and not just based on the number of how many post you have but based on the quality. i used to reply to the comments to my post and and at the same time respond to other post and i compare that to my friends and they have more number of post for the day than i am and i earned more than them. besides, dont take it seriously if no one bother to respond to the comments to their post as they might other reason why, just attend to your own and dont bother other members as they have their own mind too. if you make a comments and they didnt bother to reply then let it be, what matter is you leave a comments their and you will earn from it. members are here to earn so do i.

netcoder your information regarding making money might be true. as Diana also mentioned from earlier posts. i HAVE already put up my white flag, .. so. I am waiting for friendship requests only. However, I can say, after I started this topic, I have increased my number of friends here in mylot. And, lost a few points on the star rating too. :D
