Do men overspend to attract mates?

Money is important in a relationship, but is the sole deciding factor for a relationship to last? The degree of financial consumption is directly related to future mating intentions, and past mating success for men, not women. Also for the guys, their position in the social hierarchy is based on their monetary resources. Can a man's financial consumption, his conservative or risky financial strategies decide the number of partners he wants or has had in his past? Are we running a status race that makes us overextend ourselves? Is it fair to show our love merely through the consumer goods that we purchase? Friends your thought on this?

I don't think it matters whether a man is affluent or not. If he's an overspender but he can handle it then it wouldn't really matter. I think it depends on how he handles a relationship. I've been in flings and based from experience, It's not the thing that matters. It's about saying how much you'd care for her.

Yes, its all about caring and there are other ways than overspending. I think one should not spend more than earning for any reason unless its an absolute need. Thanks for the response.

I think the idea of spending more than the earning never works, you may make your lover happy for sometime but may be other day you are borrowing money from her. Spending withing earning is not bad at all. Thanks for the response.

I have always loved and lived by thi quote I heard in the movie Carman Jones. "If I like a guy , he doesn't have to have money . And If I don't, his money will do him no good."I don't like Jewelry. And I hate the idea of a man sending me flowers. So all those expensive gifts won't work with me. I think there are woman who Want the expensive gifts but I am not one of them.

I think this is very true a guy makes a girl happy by buying her stuff and as we all know girls like to go shopping so receiving items makes them feel very happy.
