national elections: my most hated time of the year

I'm beginning to resent the way national elections are held in the country. I'm very much disgusted with the way political wannabees are dragging each others' names to the dirt, not to mention political killings even before the actual election. Political power brings out so much evil in so many, but it can bring out the good too. Are you 100% sure that your hard-earned taxes aren't pocketed? I've read an article about people running for politics paying 'revolutionary taxes' to certain rebel groups just to be able to campaign in their turf. I can't believe that these people who are wanting to run our country would actually pay rebels instead of annihilating them.
