Why has the world gone crazy?

I often refer to this generation as the Ritalin and Prozak generation.
The children can't sit still at home and in class and the teachers and parents need medication to cope with them and each other. Beautiful children need to deface themselves with tattoos and body piercing and the valuable advice of the elderly is considered defunct.
Is is because of the chemicals in the food or the radiation of the electronics or am I overreacting?
Does it make sense that we have more compassion over criminals and terrorists then over law abiding citizens. Does it make sense that we are more concerned about freedoms then our safety?
Any ideas as to what went wron.....

It is true that today too many people are more concerned about money, freedoms, and convenience than are concerned about many of the more important things in life. The truth is today's populace looks for the easy answer the quick fix. In doing so they have forgotten the meaning of a saying my dad and grandfather used to say all the time. "The right thing is not easy." As things get faster we lose more of who and what we are. We become more of the horde than of an individual. Even those who are getting the tats and piercings are doing so because those in their circles think they are cool. Divorce rates are going up, people are clinging to feel good answers, and the list goes on. The reason this has been brought up is because these people are exhibiting the same behavior that have caused the things you brought up. Marriages are hard work. Finding and fixing what is wrong with our self esteem issues is hard work. However if one wants it to be done right they must take the hard path not the quick fix. "But we want it now!" That is the answer to "What went wrong."
