I would recommend a goldfish.. I have a 2 year old daughter and she pretty much takes care of ours... all you have to do is make sure the tank is clean and feed it a little everyday.. my daughter loves ours

Even my daughter wants me to get a goldfish, but can put them into the tank with the old ones that i have now, they are all quite small fishes only

It's nice to hear that you love fish and want as a pet in your home. It's nice watching beautiful fish. If you define a good beginner's fish as one that is easy to feed and care for, hardy, able to live in a variety of water conditions, and attractive, then there are a number of widely available fish which fit the bill nicely like cyprinids, Corydorus catfish and rainbowfish. Many of these are regularly sold as beginner's fish. But watch out! Many of the fish sold as beginner's fish really are not well suited to that role.

Guppies are the best fish for starters. But i don't whether they are available at the place where you live. They are hardy and do not require much care. One great advantage or disadvantage is they breed very quickly. After guppies mollies are the next more hardy fish. What i didn't know when i started maintaining an aquarium was that each fish is accustomed to water with a certain ph factor. They thrive when they are in such water.Hence please ask your pet store whether the type of fish you are purchasing can thrive under the conditions you are going to put them in.It is necessary that you have a good filter also for your tank.
