I was watching the news and this woman got fined for over a $1000 in Oregon just for putting up a clothesline. Could you believe that? I thought a clothesline would be great for helping the world go green, but no, instead they would like you to keep using electricity (that they complain we're using too much of)and to help keep electric company prices up there.. and to keep using these so called energy efficent dryers (which I have but don't see a difference in my electric bill)to keep the dryer companies in business.
I myself use a clothesline in the 3 seasons, and I love how the clothes smell, like fresh air, and that is the only time I see my electric bill down. I think that woman shouldn't be fined just for having a clothesline, If neighbors dont want to see her clothes out there, then look the other way. She is doing all she can to stay green and cut her electric cost, What is so wrong with that?
Does anyone else agree that clotheslines are a great way to go green, save on electric and we should have the right to use one if we choose fit,(I hear they are trying to band all clotheslines in all states)what ever happened to our freedom to choose. oh yeah, lately we get less and less freedom to do or say in the land of the free.

No, she had it in her backyard, out of harms way. The neighbors said it made the neighborhood look bad for having it and put out a petition and of course, the petition won,so now this woman is fighting it.
I guess its a small town and houses are like close to each other, but still, that shouldn't give the town the right to say no and to fine her. I will follow it on the news and let you know the outcome if you like.

That's certainly a hefty fine! I've heard of newer subdivisions being picky like that. Honestly, I think it's foolish to not let someone do what they want on their own property, and if they think that's an eyesore then they need their heads examined.
