I think that myLot should'nt be looked at as a tool to make money, How about you

I know I shall probably get shouted down as I am a very new member of myLot, but I am getting a little tired of discussions merely on 'how to make money on myLot'.
This is turning out to be a much better site than I expected with a lot of sensible members who post sensible/fun/informative discussions, there are however a lot who just seem to be wanting to earn a quick buck!!
Surely the best way to enjoy the site - and earn some money at the same time - is to post sensible discussions, that people will want to read and join in with; answer questions posted as honestly as you can and enjoy yourself.
It is I think rather a social networking site as much as a money making site - more so in fact.
I can appreciate that it is also a good tool for non English speaking people to practise their English and to gain more confidence, good luck to them and I am pleased if I can help in any way.
So I say let's just enjoy it, join in the discussions and if we make some money that is a bonus.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

The medium is the message. Marshall McLuhan popularized this famous idea during the advent of newer forms of technology in the 1960s.
The internet is a mixture of a lot of technologies that various media converged to form what we see today. Seeing myLot as a social networking site is understandable, but assuming that it is the only thing that you could see is a bit limiting.
I can see several things at myLot:
- it's a forum with virtual currency enabled;
- it's a publishing platform for pre-production ideas;
- it's a meeting room for co-writers;
- and so on.
Each of these will encourage specific behavior as Marshall McLuhan predicted in his book, Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man. If you want to fully benefit from using myLot, a broader and self-aware perspective would probably be more appropriate.
The message of the internet as a medium is the abundance of possibilities.

Hi Oldchem,
Actually, I don't imagine that any of us who have been here for a long time will be shouting at you. We also get a bit tired of the discussions from people here for the sole purpose of earning money and promoting money making sites. Welcome to Mylot. I think you'll fit in just fine.

Well I'm sure that some members might agree with you however I do not agree I think its wonderful that some social networks, and typing sites allow members to earn a little extra cash while having fun.
As for discussions about how to earn money, well I see nothing wrong with those as long as members dont post there referral links or start spamming other members, its ok. I mean as long as we respect the rules of mylot and post those topics respectfully and its not the only kinds of discussions we have in here.
There's a wide verity of topics to discuss here, lastly I think the extra bucks comes in handy, to many members, not all people can participate in these sites for the shear joy and of it, meaning we should not judged members for needing a few extra bucks, and we should be very grateful to sites like mylot for creating a fun place and giving people who are experiencing financial hardships a chance to earn a little, I'm am here to have fun, and also to earn some bucks. but I dont look at mylot as just a tool to make money I view mylot as a fun online community that also allows me the chance to earn.

I agree with you oldchem. I must admit, the reason i joined mylot was that pays.
However, after sometimes, i fell in love. That because i really like discussion and debating, and in English too!
I never get so many comments and replays on my discussion which i started before. Not in other sites, even on Facebook.
So, mylot is a better place to discuss and...
Have fun!

Before when I signed up on mylot i was conscious to earn money cuz i had never
joined the site which pays. I found it interesting that the site pays for posting a
topic and discussing on another posts. But when i got used to mylot i found that
sharing topics and the things you want to know from others seems more interesting
and knowledgeable. So i think mylot is a better place to improve your knowledge .
however its also better to place to earn .. Happy mylotting..

Hi oldchem1, that's why we are all here. I mean, come on...This is a great site to make money and it is better to sit down without doing anything. If I want to simply answer any question I would have join the forum and some other networking site. Those sites need more help than here, I don't know whether or not you'll agree with me, I leave to you.
Great! If you were to say learning English on this site while earning money then it is true. Because I am not that good in English either. At least, there are something to motivate others to join. Moreover, this is a legit site as far as I knoooow...Correct me if I'm wrong admin. Anyhow, this is just my opinion, don't get mad.
Happy Mylotting

I have been earning online for many years. There are many others ways to spend the same amount of time and earn more money. So this has never been about the money. I consider the 10 plus dollars I received last month a perk.
I come in here to take a break from all of my other online projects. I have made some great friends in here and I have a lot of fun. It is fun discussing topics or helping out where I can.
Enjoy your weekend

Good morning~
Thanks for asking for our thoughts. Since you've asked, I'll post my opinion. For me, I don't necessarily view this as a social networking site. I use other means for social/online networking and pretty much only connect with people I know. I use this for two reasons: 1) to ask questions and get information/advice on different subjects, and 2) to make money.
I really like this site, but I admit I am a bit disappointed with how long it is taking me to make any money here. Then again, why would anyone want to pay me simply for posting my thoughts/opinions on their website? The payout seems extremely slow to me; but it will come--someday. I think, at this time in history, most people are looking for ways to make a dollar. The economy in the US--and in the world in general--is lousy...not that I'm any expert on the economy. We're just "living the American dream" (not). We have other things to be thankful for besides money.
I think people should be able to make money here since that is part of the idea of mylot. But nothing in life comes easily. And if mylot.com promised you'd make lots and lots of money simply for posting your thoughts and ideas, I wouldn't be on here--I just wouldn't trust it. I'd like to learn how to make more money here; but I just come on the site once in a while and enjoy posting a few things here and there. So, I agree with you that we should enjoy it; but I also think we should be able to make some money here. I will make some money here; but it will take me a very long time! As of now, I only have $1.70 in my account!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for inviting me to share mine!
Have a great day,
artsyfartsygal :)

Hi and thank you for your reply
I am not saying that I am against money being made on here, it is just that SO many of the discussions seem to be 'how do I make more money on here', when the answer really is to write or join in with some GOOD discussions, and one's that are worth bothering with.
As you say, it would seem very strange for a website to pay us huge payouts simply for posting our opinions.
I have only been a member for less than a week soI am very new to it.
Thanks agai

I like MYlot because I can talk to people about stuff I'm interested in and earn money. However , if there were no financial incentive , I wouldn't be here. I'm a teen trying to make some money :) I do have a part time job but my parents won't let me use the money on whatever... XD
