There is rarely anything interesting on TV! There are only 3 nights a week where an interesting show is on... Castle on Mondays, Biggest Loser on Tuesdays, and Celbrity Apprentice on Sundays.
On Fridays I will watch Kitchen Nightmares, but it's not a show I feel like I HAVE to watch, and on Saturdays hubby and I have been watching a show on the Travel channel called America's Worst Driver which seems entertaining, but again it's not something I really look forward to seeing, it's just there.
The rest of the nights there's never anything on, so we normally get movies for those nights.

I watch a few soaps during the week and i would say one or two programs over the weekend and i think all the money that i pay out each month to watch the tv is it really worth paying it to have nothing to watch.I tend to spend alot of time on the internet passing the time away aswell as earning abit of money.

I know what you mean...
There was a time when the latest episode of CSI was appointment TV. Or the latest sitcom was something that shouldn't be missed. Lately, there isn't anything good. I've fallen into the habit of watching TV/cable late at night.
I think really late at night is when the interesting shows come on. I saw 'Californication' the other night (past midnight). It was interesting!

oh, yes jugsjugs every thursday there is absolutely nothing to watch on TV. I have no clue why there is but I use that evening to spend some quality time with my son. Help him with homework, play games or just hang around and enjoy the company of family. I have a feeling that the TV company have a thought about it.

i got really fed up with watching the news about the election. In truth we have been living and breathing the election for months now and even now its still not stopped as they still can't make their minds up what they are doing. I refuse to discuss politics on mylot , its like being at work," never discuss religion or politics " it only ends up with rows and disagreements. but its so aggravating, this incessant harping on about who said what and whos met with whom. You are absolutely right, but this is where i show off - sorry-but i have got skyplus on my hd tv, ooh dear and i have been catching up on what i have 'taped'. thank goodness for sky.

Hi JJ,
It is a nuisance most nights as there is never anything really interesting to watch now, these top model shows and reality shows drive me up the wall! Also I only like a few programmes/series on the TV and normally just watch them apart from National Geographic, Biology and other interesting programmes like that, but at night my son likes other things to watch so give him the run of the TV, can understand where you are coming from entirely..LoLo

It seems like during this time of the year there are far more days when there is nothing good to watch on the television than there are things that I am interested in watching. It is for this reason that I use my DVR on a very regular basis. When there is one show that I am interested in, it seems that there are several shows that I am interested in and I will watch one while I am recording another. Then when I am ready to watch a show and there is nothing of any quality on the television I will choose something from my DVR and I will watch that.

Oh right, that sounds great.Perhaps if i did not see no tv for a year or so then things would not seem repeated when i did go back to watching the tv.We used to swap aswell as borrow dvds off friends to watch all the time, but we do not even do that now and i am not paying money to rent any dvds.

You do have a point about the cost of the cable, as I where I live they charge for that whether we watch it or not. There is no way to separate it from the other utilities as they all come in a package. If we want electricity and water, then we have to pay for the garbage collection and TV as well. Bummer.
Internet is a very good example of something better to do than TV. Did you know that you can download Kindle software to your desktop and read zillions of books online for free? I also have the Free Alkdiko reader on my cell phone and am currently reading Flaubert's Salammbo.
Hope you are up and around soon ;-)

I've noticed that on alot of nights as well, we have satellite tv and pay all this money for I don't know how many channels and we can't find anything to watch, we'll flip through them all over and over..lol. All I see mostly are the infomercials where they're always trying to sell you something.

Oh yes and even the sales channels are repeats aswell as thats alot of the channels are repeats aswell as really old programs and films that i never looked at in the past as i did not like them then so i will not watch them now.I try to keep busy on the internet as i find it more fun.

I was getting alittle bummed realizing I would soon have to give up my cable because I won't be able to afford it, atleast not for a while. Then afew weeks ago I realized that there are nights that there is nothing good on. And the nights that i do watch quite abit it is usually the local channels anyway.

There are several programs I really enjoyed though. But I can spend my time much more productively if I really try. I have just been so depressed and tv is a good thing to pass the time with. National Geographic, A&E, and TCM and AMC are some favorites of mine. I love the old movies and the interesting shows on the other two.

I think that seeing that they are putting alot of the old programs from years ago on sky there is not alot to watch on there as i never watched the programs years ago as i did not like them then and i still do not like them.I do like all the wild life programs aswell as vets programs but the good ones are on when the children are watching their things aswell as they are recording other sides ready for the weekend for them to watch.

I don't have cable so I don't watch much TV unless we buy a movie to watch. We have lots of movies to watch. And if I really want to watch anything that pertains to TV I will just go up online and look for a TV program to watch. Its just as good as watching TV but there is know cost.

Cable is to expensive to buy now a days to watch TV. I don't bother to waist my money on it. My mom pays to much for hers now as it is. I haven't had cable in years. I think about getting it every now and then but its just another extra bill to pay for.

I know what you mean by expensive as i have found that with all the repeats aswell as all those old programs that i did not like years ago and still do not like them most of my time i am on the internet keeping myself amused aswell as getting new friends and that is more fun.

Yes, I have noticed this plenty of times. I don't mean to be so negative but I don't think there's anything fit to watch on tv any more. I never have been much of a tv watcher, anyway. I used to watch "Little House On The Prairie" everyday but they've changed the time for it. I also watch rfdtv a lot everyday because they have a lot of good stuff for horse owners. That's about my extent of watching tv. I'm usually on the computer, listening to music, or practicing music.

In case you don't know what rfdtv is, it's rural america's most important network. They have programs about farming, gardening, making quilts, postcareds from Nebraska, to name a few. They also dedicate 2 hours a day to horse owners where they have programs like "Best Of America By Horseback", "Trotters And Pacers", "Parelli Natural Horsemanship", "Downunder Horsemanship". Then, there are programs with horse trainers like Ken McNabb, Craig Cameron, Dennis Reis, etc. They also have country music shows on this station and horse and cattle sales. There is nothing dirty on this station, either.

Don't you just hate that. Nothing good at all for all the channels and all the money we spend on have cable. Its just a waste of money sometimes. Either there is nothing good on or everything that is good is on at the same time. It can be frustrating at times. When this happens then I just either read or mylot. My two addictions.

I do not do alot of reading only when i come on here and read all the discussions.I found it soo annoying that there was nothing on as i was going to have an evening laying on the settee watching tv chilling out and there was nothing on that interested me.I agree we pay alot of money to watch the tv and alot of the time there is nothing on apart from a soap.

I have been trying and hoping for alternative to cable and satellite. Anything that has to do with internet TV or PCTV (haven't really explored much into this) may not be reliable to different people's needs.
There is a concept of personalized TV and there seemed to be a company or more that is/are trying to develop this. Just have to wait and see if this could be a good alternative and cheaper too.

This is why I go online and get paid, instead of paying for something that is basically nothing. Now in a month or two hubby wants to get direct tv. I hope I still am up here earning money instead of watching all the time.

Ours is like that, too. I'm not a big TV watcher, there is too much to do! But I do enjoy a few shows. I have a TiVO recorder so I NEVER watch anything that I haven't recorded, that way I can run past the commercials and watch a one hour show in just about 40 minutes!
Since I can record everything I want, I have shows to watch on those evenings when there is nothing worth watching. American TV is mostly a wasteland of reality shows and ridiculous situation comedies and game shows so "rationing" my viewing allows me an hour or two of enjoyment each night, without commercials.

We also record alot of things aswell and i find alot of the things that we record are ok but when it gets to the weekend where we have a bit more time to chill there is nothing to watch aswe have already watched it.I think i will record alot of films over night and just hope they are good and that i have not seen them before.

Yes this happens a lot. I hate when there is something political on, it is on a lot of the channels. When this happens, I watch something "On Demand". There are a lot of free programs and there is usually a lot to pick from. If there are two things on at the same time, I watch the one that won't be On Demand. Then I watch the other one the next day or whenever I want.

I find that alot of the nights i am on the internet trying to pass the time away as well as having fun, but it would be nice if there were more things on that i had not already seen or even things that are worth watching. The children have alot more choice i think as they have the same amount of channels but they have alot more programs aswell as there are always new programs starting for them.

Where do you live ? I live in NZ and it's not that way at all... There's always something at night to watch and you don't even need cable or SKY to get the good stuff.
Monday: Desperate Housewives.
Tuesdays: House
Wednesday: Big bang theory; Supernatural.
Thursday: American Dad and 20/20
Friday: Chuck
Saturday: Random movies
Sunday: _____ well...Except this day :)
You should be complaining about day time television XD I mean , who the hell would watch that crap. Oprah? Rachel Ray? -__- And those infomercials .
Try the shows I watch. Or go on the internet and watch T.V shows there. If you still have nothing to watch , why don't you record your favorite shows on tape? You can then watch those cool episodes again when there's nothing to watch.
