How will you solve a problem caused just due to misunderstanding between friends

Dear mylotters, I was asked a question by my best friend -" I never expected this from you.. How could you do that to me...? I thought though you are making fun of me, you know me well...... but now I don't think so...." What made him to ask was I sent a message to my friends ridiculing him... But he took the matter seriously....HE called me at once and told me those words... Only then I realised that what I did was wrong.... While chatting we used to make fun of each other...... But its for the first time I got such a response from him.... I felt very badly.... Now I don't know what to tell him...... I don't know how to express my remorse.... What should I do or what should I tell him when I see him next time.....? Wht will you do if you had to face this...?
