i saw a hindi movie '3 idiots' recently.in that movie there is a professor that keeps telling his students that life is a race.you need to beat all your competitors no matter even its your best buddy.there is no scope for friendship.you need to keep in mind that no person overtakes you in your life.you need to be the best and remain at the top.you should always top you school exams.you should keep studying 24 hours in order to keep winning the race or to overtake the other person.do you agree with this philosophy my friends?

Life is that kind of race where you run only to excel yourself, and not others. To emerge a winner you must stand in the Q with those who are standing to get in the bandwagon and not against those who are trying to alight. You should not nudge others in the ribs; you must not stamp other people's toes; and you must make way for the weak and feeble and let them pass ahead. The one who reaches the top doing all this is the true winner.

Life is indeed a race.. BUt not a race against others.. INstead, it's race against time, against ourself.. We should strive to upgrade ourself, regardless of whatever knowledge we already have..
At the end of the day, it's not for us to boast around, but rather, for our own good.. haha =D So what if we do excel in everything, just for the sake of beating all friends around us, but when it comes to practical use, we cant do it at all?? lol =D

Depends on where you stay! In many countries there are a lot of opportunities, recognition of any kind of talent and dignity of labour…life may not be like a rat race there as you can just about do anything and yet earn money and respect. However, in India life is indeed like a pernicious race…eating away at the joys of living and eroding the good relation we share with our friends and family. The very word ‘career’ is like a heady poison which parents start feeding their kids from a very early age…and by the time they are adults, they are so intoxicated that they cant see anything beyond that…I too am guilty of the same as regards my growing son. I’m so worried most of the times regarding his future as coz I know that without good education and results, he’d stand no chance of a good job or business.

I always thought that you should do your best for yourself, to further yourself in life, I never thought of it as being a race, just do your best, and not to worry about what everybody else is doing.

I also saw this movie and I don not agree with this philosophy. the person at the top is always alone. life is not a race for me. its better to live life peacefully with friends and families than run after 'top position'. what is the value of this top position if you do not have anybody to share the joy with...

The over all statement of the movie is just like what i have watched a few minutes ago.You know the movie Meet the Robinsons by Disney movie? well ,its just about that in some other ways.a little boy , an inventor who grew up in an orphanage who manage to become the greatest thing in the future. He wanted to have a complete and a one big happy family knowing that his mother abandoned him right after his birth. He have this motto in life which goes like this: KEEP MOVING FORWARD! . he always tell people to never quit on whatever their doing .for instance, money don't come easy.you need to word really hard for it.

Hi antony, No I don't agreed with this philosophy as it is far too extreme. Life is meant to be enjoyed, we are meant to be happy and this kind of lifestyle cannot bring happiness. We need friends, we need to help each other. True we should believe in ourselves and do our best both in school and at work but not to the detriment of family and friends. I think that following the philosophy you speak of would lead to great unhappiness and a lonely old age. Blessings.

Isn't the only real race one has, is with themselves??? We all have different talents and parameters for the lessons we are to learn in life. Can one really compare apples to oranges???? I'm going to enjoy the diversity of both. If you think your life's purpose is to beat everyone, you will be chasing your tail for eternity in hopes of acquiring something that will never happen. Chase away. The rest of us will keep watching. When you get really tired, is when we will point you to daylight again.

No, I don't agree with that philosophy. It's called being selfish and that's not what God wants us to be (well, if you believe in God). Life, being a race, is just a state of mind. Everyone of us is unique and we all have our own destiny or purpose in life. Let's just mind our business in the sense that we are not doing any harm to other people. I'm not also saying that we be insensitive. It's just a matter of balance and determining what's right and wrong. And this can only be achieved through constant communication with God, 'cause only His judgments are truly just and unbiased.
