I have got an MSI U100 and it is great for all the things i need it cost my husband £200 from argos and it even has bluetooth.Even my sister in law has just got one and she loves it.It is classed as a note book so it do not have the bit where you put disk in.An external drive if you need one at anytime is around £45.This came from Argos and i have never had a problem with it at all.It is fast reliable and has got nice keypad on it unlike some of them that you can buy.I hope that helps you.

I'm in a similar situation and have been looking for a good bargin for some time. Generally i've not found anything outstanding but i have found that one of the cheapest ways of getting a good laptop on a tight budget is to get it with a mobile phone contract. I'd have a search of this option when looking, you don't pay a lot less if you are only doing it for the laptop, but if you have need to change a phone, or you want an interest free payment plan?? (usually the phone works out almost free, as do the inclusive calls) My present laptop is an acer and was bought some time ago, it's been quite a bad buy with most of the hardware (card reader, wifi, network input etc) no longer working. I'd recommend buying a good brand even if the package appears slightly inferior, I'd rather have to upgrade what i can, than be forced to buy things to correct probelms caused by cutting corners.
