It's been going on for hundreds of years now and I've read that it started with land issues and when they couldn't reach a compromise, they kept killing each other and now it's not just land issues anymore but also for vengeance. It's their governments' fault, I think. They should just stop because many innocent people had already died.

Let's be honest. Although many of us would rather preffer to live in peace, in reality there are many that not only like war, but frequently start or maintain one for their own ends. Their motives may however vary. For instance, there are entities which profit from this and any other war (look at economically powerful arms manufacturers, states run by cartelized corporate "democratic" oligarchies) which don't care about the regional recessions that accompany these wars and sometimes also their aftermaths.
Needless to say, a long-standing threat of war (real or artificial) can be damned profitable for arms manufacturers, for various economies, for various politicians, for various people.
War will stop when current set of values and norms will cease to exist, when a major mentality change will occur.

The Christian Bible says that the war in Israel will not stop until the end times begins. That would be when the anti-christ will be in power, and offer to Israel a 7-year peace agreement. In fact, that peace agreement itself, will signify the start of the 7-years of tribulation and terror.
Of course, that's according to the Bible... if you believe that.

I think the fighting will stop when both of the two countries are annihilated. That's the only way. I think the superpowers should give Lebanon and Israel a fair fight by giving Lebanon nukes and high tech armaments (just like Israel) and let the two countries wipe themselves out of the planet Earth. That's the only way to stop them. It will only stop when the only surviving organisms in that region are bacteria (after a devastating nuke attack!).
