I wonder how it feels to study the history of a colonizing country

I came from the Philippines wherein the history is all about how our heroes fought for our freedom against the colonizers. We've studied the different causes of revolt and how these revolts accumulated into a revolution. Now I wonder what the difference in history between a colonizing country like France, Spain, America, etc. and a colonized country is. And if it is true that we should feel inferior about this or not.
