i went swimming today with some of my co-workers. it was sort of a spur-out-of-the moment thing since we just planned it yesterday. we all wanted to take day off today from work since starting monday it's gonna be hard to use our sick leaves again. so some of us decided yesterday to take the day off today. initially, we planned on going to a movie, then i said let's go swimming tomorrow! then they all said yes. so we went swimming today instead of working. usually when my co-workers and i go somewhere it takes a lot of planning, especially activities such as swimming. how about you, do you enjoy unplanned activities? or would you rather stick with an organized itinerary?

Most of the time, unplanned activities happen than planned ones. I don't know why. It seems like when a newer activity comes, the previous one just get discarded. I think that's not good but, it often happens. It really depends on the dedication of the people involved in such activities if the planned one would still be followed or the recently introduced would take over.
Anyway, going with the topic, it seems like a hit or miss for me. Sometimes, since its unplanned, things would either go smoothly or not at all. After all, anything can happen in both situations. The planned activity would still be susceptible to change.
Of course, with a planned one, everyone should be ready and prepared.

but then, with a planned one (in my group of co-workers at least) someone always comes up with an excuse not to go :)

Well, if its an emergency, we really can't do anything about it but, if its because of some other reasons that doesn't really justify the sudden abandonemt of the planned activity, its just plain disappointing.
Then there are those who would say, 'If that person doesn't go, I woudln't go either..' which would create a chain effect as no one would want to go in such a small number.
That's why its really important that everyone involved should really be dedicated in making the event happen

i agree with you on the chain effect thing. especially during the planning periods, where everyone would just say, 'i'm fine with whatever you guys want'. then nothing gets decided. one of our senior co-workers once advised us just to go even if it's a small group because if we wait always for everyone, we'd just end up with nothing.

i looooooove unplanned activities!
well, i know planning for a trip with your friends is fun. but at the same time it makes the trip so predictable and even boring. having to stick to a tight itinerary is just a nightmare. is it a trip or a job? that sounds like a job rather than a vacation.
well, i know my opinion is reckless and sometimes makes the trip just a complete failure. besides not many people agree with me so i often go on a reckless trip by my self or with my reckless firends. it is so fun! and even if it turns out a failure, we enjoy the failure.

i agree with you. sometimes when you plan an activity that has a very strict itinerary, it sometimes feel like a job. your time is always tied to the itinerary. what if you wanna do that activity longer, right? you won't be able to because yo have to follow the schedule.

yup. i totally agree with you. beaches are awesome. i'm good with staying at a beach all day long as long as there's some good stuff to do. i could snorkel all day when the beach is nice :)

yeah! that happens. i like beaches. and once i settle, i don't want to move around for other activities too much! well, of course if we find it boring just to keep lying on the beach, then why not go to some other place, but if we find it fun, i would like spend as much time there as possible.

Unplanned activities are way much exciting than the ones being planned. Last week, my office mates and I went to Tagaytay, Its a cool and nice place here in the Philippines. No itinerary. No plans on what to do. No idea where to go. we just drove down the whole place. And then checked into a cool resort nearby. In the evening we went out for a coffee at Starbucks. We had so much fun. No expectations. No worries of not getting into what we planned. Its an unplanned activities since we never really planned on going out over the weekend. Prior to that, we keep on planning on going out of town for a hot summer getaway, but every time that date is coming, there are some complications. It could be a schedule. Somebody is sick that we cant go out. We need to go to work to finish some stuff, or something like that. So we just end up, disappointed. So unplanned activities is fun.

i agree with you, when you plan something and something doesn't go your way, it's really disappointing. yep, tagaytay's a really nice place. they developed it well too. when i first went there, there wasn't much establishment there, but now, it really has become a tourist spot.

No I do not like unplanned activity. I you start an unpland activity you soon will see that lot of things are missing.
If you always do your activities without planning them before you will never reach your goal, so lets have always our plans what to do!

i would say yes and no...sometimes it can be exciting and keep things fun, then other times it can be very inconveniencing if you already have something else planned for that particular time. i say that it depends on the circumstances.

Sometimes unplanned activities end up giving us the most enjoyment. A spontaneous moment is often what we need. When we don't seek out something, it can mean more to us.

yup, i agree with you. here in the philippines there's this tagalog phrase that has become popular. it goes something like "spur-of-the moment plans are better than planned ones because when you plan something so much it almost always does not happen". wow, it's so much shorter when it's in tagalog. :)

I'm gonna have to say that I love unplanned activities. Some of the most enjoyable things and events that I've ever experienced were those unplanned ones. I love the feeling of surprises, but it doesn't mean that I don't like planned activities at all. I just love the excitement that it brings. Looking back, I once went to a concert with my cousin. It was a surprise because she never said something like that to me; the next thing I knew was that I was coming with her. I had a lot of fun.

I don't want to go on unplanned activities. I want things and plans that are organized. I don't seem to enjoy if it's unplanned because I also have responsibilities and I cannot just go to this and that place anytime or if it's unscheduled.
