The pill turns 50 today. Good or Bad?
Its hard to believe that 50 years later we still have so many unwanted pregnancies and problem. Some of us are responsible and some just take in stride. Thoughts?

Hi, newtalent. I am glad to have found out this information. This is a very long time for pills to have been invented. I was on the pill when I was 16 years old. When my aunt was on it, I thought that pills were candy. Like the small sweet tart flavors. But I found out that it was Birth Control pills.

Though I am not personally a huge fan of the pill, I think that the pill has been a great invention. Granted, there are still a lot of unwanted pregnancies in this world, but I think that in the past 50 years there have been far fewer than there were in the past. One thing that I have noticed based on my own observation is that there isn't enough education to individuals about the pill. I was on the pill for about two and a half years after my daughter was born and when I went on another medication due to an injury in my back, the doctors didn't tell me that it would make my birth control not effective. I think that this kind of information should be disclosed to patients.

Yes I had an oops from this med, too lol. Any antibiotic will interfere with any form of birth control since it kills anything and everything in its path. Thinking back it made sense just did not make the connection, lol. i just cannot believe it was around for so long.
