why do you care about celebrities?

I don't understand peoples fascination with celebrities, like I should care what some dumb actress wore or who she married. How stupid can people get? Surely there are much better role models to base your life on. I would start with a family member or spiritual mentor, maybe I'm just weird like that.

Well, some people just have weird things that amuse them. I guess everyone needs a hobby and while obsessively following what celebrities do would not be one that I would pick, I guess that I may be in the minority. There are some celebrities that do things of interest from time to time but there is a line that has to be drawn. I mean, really, obsessing about the shoes a celebrity wore. The line has since been long drawn by that point I would think. Still, as long as there are famous people around, there will always be the masses that obsess over them. It can be annoying or amusing. I do question looking up to some of them, but whatever. It's not my life. If everyone did everything that I did, then I may command them to do something different anyway because that would just be rather boring.

Everything they do is only for attention and you can't really believe what stories are said about them,it's all gossip.I have no interest in any of them.

people care about celebrities just because they are celebrities. they have achieved a level of success or fame that most people dream of. they have more beauty and other talents. so its natural to want to know more about them. try dieting and eating just enough to survive. and you will see that why this models are famous and loved by everyone. cause they do it all the time. they do there sacrifices do reach a the level.

It's wish fulfillment, plain and simple. For the most part, it's all about, "Wow! That person gets to play pretend or play baseball or whatever, they get millions of dollars to do it, they get to be on magazines, and everyone know who they are! That must be incredible!" Obviously, it's a bit of a delusion, but it's one we willingly go along with. I'll admit to it, myself. When I meet a celebrity that I truly think has done some amazing work, I'll admit to getting tongue-tied and to geeking out on them. I suppose it's a little different, since I want to be a successful actor and writer, and it's mostly actors and writers that I get all flustered around. So, on that level, it's more about respect that buying into the illusion. But there is that illusion factor. The glitz and glamor of a life not like our own. The grass is always greener syndrome. But we have to remember that the word "glamor," as originally intended, means "to mask" or "to hide." Basically it's just that: a lie.
