Becoming Famous?

I will never understand the young people of today wanting to become famous. They have not a bit of talent but they want to be on TV. When I was their age I never had the desire or need to become famous. I wonder what happen to make it change. Who in their right mind wants to be famous, you lose your privacy and the life you once knew completely. They want that 15 minutes of fame and beyond. They can't act, sing or dance but they want the fame. They are never going to be Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Gene Kelly or Frank Sinatra so I don't understand it.

I have a dream to write a book. I'm talking about people who are looking for fame and fortune without the work behind them to back it up. They are famous for either being on a stupid reality show or because their parents have money, such as Paris Hilton, Heidi Montag.

what i am trying to say is, "we cant blame them if that is their dream-to be famous because all of us has each own dreams. so better never mind them"

i agree. now i think all teenagers like to become famous, they even don't think all the consequences they will suffer. for me as a teenager i don't like to be famous cause i don't want my personal life to be introduced to the public, im not a book that they can always open everytime they like to. i liked all actors/actresses and sometimes i pity them, when i see them crying because of intrigues.

You are so right they don't know what they are getting themselves into. Your privacy is gone forever once you become famous.

I think as 'kids' we all wanted to be famous at something. Mine was writting, now I don't think I can write a comprehensible sentence!!!! I see this 'famous' in my grandkids and the kids I teach at church. Even to when I say to the teens 'what do you plan on doing when you get out of school?" and my granddaughter (14) informed me she was 'marrying someone rich and famous so she didn't have to work!'...I hate trying to reason with her, she just tells me how wrong I am and you just wait and see!!!! I just look at her mom and say "I am glad she's going home with you!"

You can be famous for writing a book but you will not lose your privacy over that. Its a different fame not like these young kids of today famous because they have rich parents or have been on a stupid reality show. Having not a bit of talent.

I am with you, I would rather not be famous. But when your as great as me... lol j/k But I value my privacy too much. My teen aged daughter wants to be in a band, and she does have talent, I encourage her to play her guitar but I am not too hip to her being "famous".

Yes that is different your daughter has talent. I'm talking about people who are going for fame without the talent. People on reality shows that want to take it from their 15 minutes of fame to more then that.

lelin, during our younger days there was no tv so we were not exposed to all these types of programs. Tv in my country came very late, in the mid 70`s and that too Govt controlled. Cable TV came even much later in the late 80`s and reality shows made their appearance in the mid 90`s. These shows brought hordes of young people and eager parents wanting to cash out with the help of such shows. As sponsorship grew the attraction of earning a big cash prize and the ensuing fame made these people go for it even at the cost of their education. Today the desire to earn instant riches and get instant fame has become a craze.School and college dropouts have found a way and means to have a good income. You will be surprised to know that with the many dance talent hunt shows blossoming on the TV, the number of choreographers has increased phenomenonally. Youngsters who come from poor and rural backgrounds ,not being able to earn a good living, take a few dancing lessons, take part in a few dancing talent shows on tv, become known and then start dancing classes and start earning. The main attraction is to get to act in movies and especially in India which is virtually a movie making factory with hundreds of movies being made in all the regional languages there is ample scope for the numerous wannabe singers and dancers to showcase their talent and hope for a chance to play a part in them and become rich and famous.

Yes lelin, there are people, mainly celebrities who take part in dance reality shows here in Indian tv to.They are well known and rich too since they are earning from daily soaps and serials. But these shows are specially designed for celebrities and i have seen some untalented people who at the end of the show turn out to become very good dancers which becomes an added asset for them. They are also paid handsomely just to participate in the shows regardless whether they win or not.Mainly it is the reality shows who are responsible since bringing famous people gives the channels good viewership therefore enhancing their earnings.

Hi Veejay - I'm not talking about people who have worked and have a good talent. I'm talking about people who are famous because either they are rich or they were on a ridiulous reality show that had no substance. There are many like this in the states and its very annoying. Dance and singing competitions used as a reality show is different. These are people with talent and are deserving of fame and fortune if that is what they wish for and can handle. I'm strictly thinking about people who don't have any type of talent at all. Who are looking for the fast buck.

Well, we can understand those who have the passion and talent in acting and other performing arts. But those who you say have no talents and would like to become famous are really annoying. We see them on TV with nothing but sweet smiles and no talents at all. They just want to be seen and be admired perhaps by people.

Yes like Heidi Montag and her husband along with Kate Gosselin the the Jersey Shore group. A bunch of annoying people that when I see them on TV I turn the channel or shut the TV off.

I think, it is not only the fame that attracts them. But I think the youth are attracted to the "It" factor of being a celebrity brings. Like, VIP treatment in hot spot, or high end bars, clubs, restaurants etc... The priviledges of having clothes for free, designer gowns, shoes, bags. And also the money they can earn by being a celebrity. And with the emergence of reality shows, seems like, even if you don't have talents, as long as you make stupid things ..you can be famous. They want the fame and even losing their privacy. I don't quite understand too. But it is what attracts the youth, or almost every body these days. Maybe because, it is almost like a one step, one night transformation, bringing you fame, money, and others. (^^,)

Hi lelin, I think there have always been some young people who wanted to be famous, even some with very little talent. You are right though, once a person becomes famous there life will change forever. The young people of today are more self-confident than previous generation and willing to try almost anything. Blessings.

The people who have talent are the ones that start having an agent the ones who get on reality shows are the ones who usually don't have any type of talent at all. Such as Heidi Montag, her husband and others.

I don't understand it, either, unless they think they'll be rich. People want to be rich without working for the money. I never wanted to be famous, either, and guard my privacy like the Hope Diamond. I think that most of these people want wealth the easy way and have no idea of the price they would pay for it.

i think it goes with peoples personalities more.. i always wanted to be famous but not for making a fool of myself lol.. but im also the type that was singing and dancing and acting in front of people at an early age at church.. yeah it was church but i enjoyed it and it was something i was good at.. heck if my health was better i would pursue it but yeah its sad when people that want it so bad and have no talent at all.. but im mostly an open book on my life anyways so not much that they would find that wouldnt already be public knowledge publicity wise

I'm not talking about a person like you. You have talent that you used in the Church and that is a great thing. I'm talking about people who are looking to make alot of money without an ounce of talent.

Just to clarify not everyone wants to be famous. That is so not true. If you want to be famous you need to have a very good talent such as singing, dancing or acting. If you have that its ok if you can handle it. To many young people want fame for the wrong reasons. Heidi Montag and her husband don't have an ounce of talent between them but they are famous for being on a stupid reality show and now they are trying to extend their 15 minutes of fame.

Yes i completely agree. This is a trend these days among teenagers to become famous. That i feel is because they don't have the understanding of the thin line between being famous and being rich. This trend associates fame with riches or rather the other way round. A kind deed for the society or a revolutionary deed in a community is enough to give fame but not always riches. This i guess draws the youth of today to televisions and cinemas. But as everything has another side to it i admit there's a lot of talented youth out there. What i wish and appeal to the youth is that don't follow the crowd. Understand that special quality in you, nurture it and use it for the betterment of you and the society. No one can stop them from becoming famous then!!!

That is right be yourself and don't follow others. If they have the talent that is a different story. I'm talking about people who may have money and that is why they are famous. I think that is horrible. People on reality shows with not a bit of talent trying to extend their 15 minutes of fame. Its all sickening to me.

confidence vary from person to person, some lack it, some have overwhelming confidence to try and sees themselves as worthy of praises, others are just glared at how stars shine their way up. some want to do it for money, for their families and for themselves.

These young people must have something amiss in their life. If they had all the love at home that they possibly could get from their parents, they would more or less be content with not being famous, but now they probably want to prove something. It's most human, although you might not know what's in store for you when you are famous. If you want to be famous just to stand out and prove something due to a bad upbringing, then chances are that you will not be able to handle the fame. Unless you happen to have a hit song, it takes hard work to get there and stay there. You don't have to sing like Frank Sinatra. You can sing like someone with the flue or struggling to reach the higher notes like Joe Cocker, as long as you keep to the notes and have the charisma and the contacts and the perseverance, you can do it. Not for me though.
10 May 10
It's normal and understood.the words just as you tell can get most suppor. The young man like to show off themselves and most station they just want to prove something. In this world i say now (21 century) being famous is a conviniet way .Yeah that so many young people want to be famous is sample!
