Are you from the south, because the phrase "color people" is about as racist as you can get? You don't mean to offend anyone, oh please, this is 2010 and it's people like yourself that answers the question of why racism still exsist. I was under the impression that "mylot" screens comments and discussions, but i guess that's a lie. Now, to finally answer your ridiculous question, all races, nationalities and creeds, will wear dark clothing at night. Are you a racist that badd, where you can actually count the number of blacks, in dark colored clothing, walking down the street at night? If you can, then you're good, because when i'm out at night and driving, singling out black people, in dark clothing, isn't one of my hobbies. I have to pay attention to the road and all people and animals, to keep from wrecking.

dear gemini,
chill! he said no offense. i am from the brown race, i dont think id be so sensitive being called "colored people" unless you add more adjectives to it. this is not the issue here. please lets not be too personal.

Why ask people an off the wall question like that and not expect an answer from people with brains? You are the one using the words "colored people". Go ask anyone who's sane and not from the KKK, what types of words and phrases that are inappropiate, then come back and talk to me. Until then, you are judged and seen as one of the craziest, racist people around. What's next, two of your friends are black?

Hmm I have seen people that are light complected wearing dark clothes that are
a hazard in the night too. If people walk on sidewalks and you drive in the street
then things should be fine.
With stop lights. .people should walk when direction they are walking says go.
At night time we should be more careful.

dear syankee,
i think people likes to wear colors that they feel would complement the color of their skin. i for one likes cool colors but i am of the brown race. i dont like bright red though it is a beautiful color. i think people with much darker skin likes dark colors because maybe it feels cooler.. even during at night. well, thats my opinion.
this is a silly question i agree. but you made me think there. really! guess you should be more careful out there in the night not to bump anything dark and moving.
have a great day.

I had to chuckle on this one . . . I guess I sort of have the opposite view. People will wear what they want to wear because that's what they feel like wearing at the time. They probably don't think that they are hazards in the dark. And I doubt they would be willing to wear light reflectors on their clothes!
Here's the reason why I laughed. I have medium toned skin. I also figure skate. So one time I wore this beige colored fleece pullover to the rink. It was warm and nice - I didn't think anything of it. Well, this weirdo at the rink stopped me and accused me of wearing such a camouflaged outfit that he couldn't see me on the ice . . . that I blended in too much with the rink and people could run into me pretty easily. You've got to be kidding me. I have NEVER heard such a thing and when I told everyone what happened, they couldn't believe it either! That incident is what your discussion reminded me about!

my thing is if you have dark skin, and this as to white people as well. if you are going to wear dark clothes at night time and you are dumb enough to walk in the street or walk out in the street in front of a car, then they shouldnt get upset at people who comes close to hit them.
so my thing they need not to complain about either getting hit or coming close to get by an car.

Hi, syankee525. I don't know why they would do this. I know many people of this race wears dark a whole lot. And any other colors. I think that everyone, regardless of being black should never wear dark clothes at night. It makes it very hard to see them. I am African American mixed with Indian. I have a lighter complexion, and if I am walking, I will try to make sure I get near the light so that others can see me. I think that wearing dark colored clothing, is not safe at all. For anyone of any color!

It's the style of the times Yankee. Dark jeans, dark hoodies...the gangsta look that is popular right now. I agree that it's not safe but you know how young people are...they're into fashion and what's hot. When we still lived up there Amanda tried to make me go broke shopping at Hot Topic at the mall because she was so into their skater/punk look.

I don’t think what you are saying is offensive. Personally I think that it would be hard to see anyone when it’s particularly dark regardless of skin colour and wearing light coloured clothing when walking on the street at night is wise. Of course if a person is dark and the clothes are too it would reduce his or her chance to be seen so I do appreciate your point.

Yes, this is very true. I've almost hit a few people because I couldn't see them until I got right up on them. And for some reason they like to walk out in the road. If you're so dark that people have trouble seeing you at night, stay off the road!

I'm really into clothes so I'm somewhat aware of the fashion dos and don't s. I know also that you should wear clothes that can make you feel comfortable and can show your personality. But if a dark skinned person is wearing a dark colored shirt (and black) on an evening time, then that i think is a fashion DON'T. Don't you want others to recognize/notice you during night time? And yes, no offense guys. :D

I don't know because in my country I do not see often black people. However, I do understand that black people should try putting on bright clothes at night time.
