Well oil is spewing like a volcano in the gulf of mexico, If we leave it up to the media to tell the story they will show you one video over and over and just keep saying what can be done to stop the oil reaching land instead of capping the source of the spill. People I think this thing will be so severe all of the country will feel it in their health and pockets(get your oil base seafood coming soon) if this spill flowed for months or even a year which BP and oil experts are saying can happen. Then could this be a huge blow to the country? Or just a minor set back that we will bounce back from? Will it surely cripple the economy are a easy shake off.

It will have an effect on the economy because that's what people want. People will not give up their reliance on oil. People produce electric cars, cars that run on alternative fuels, hybrid cars, and people just laugh at them. "Thank you but no thank you I'll stick to my gas car." There are ways we can get away from oil, but we refuse to, and this is why our economy is so bad. We sit here day after day and complain about the economy, but refuse to do anything about the cause of our problem. The oil companies have been making record profits by raising gas prices so high, yet telling us the cost of the barrel has gone up and blah blah blah. Really, then how are you making such record profits? Because they are liars, and we are suckers. So now because of this spill oil companys, and gas stations will raise their prices. Is it because they need to? NO. Its because they all know we are suckers, and this is the perfect chance to raise the price of gas. Even though BP is just one company, all the companies will be using this as an excuse to raise their prices. And that will have a really bad effect on the economy. If we didn't need oil so badly, then this would have very little effect on our economy.

I hear you, its a shame people do not see that we need to drop this entire oil only for energy, what happen to all the "green jobs" and the alternative energy. First car was ran on hemp, india has cars on the market for $5,000 electric only but yet in America there is always some excuse why it can't be done here, and then they screw the people even more while making them suffer, because now you will not only pay more at the pump month after month but they will top your nice seafood dish with Crude oil. Who's helping us??

The go green thing is all a marketing scheme. Companies aren't going green, but using the phrase gets attention. And its a tax write off. Cute little stickers don't make things better.

I can only say this is an environmental disaster of epic proportions.I'm not an expert and hence can't comment when the leakage will stop or what the signs are before the oil stops gushing into the ocean.I don't know what effect it will have on seafood to be consumed by all the people around the spill,it can only be bad but not good for the health of all those in the vicinity.Economy will bounce back after some years but what about the environment will it return to normalcy soon?I doubt it.

I don't think the environment on this one will ever return to normalcy I think those people living in the gulf need to really look into solar, alternative, or ways to filter contaminated water etc, They haven't even recovered from katrina all it takes is another hurricane on top of oil spewing millions of gallons a week, there will be entire areas not fit for people or animals.
