XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, PC, any handhelds?
In my opinion, it's the 360... its only downside is the non-free Live.

The PS3 is better in pretty much every single category
-Cheaper (no proprietary microsoft crap)
-Better exclusive games (guess what, we have mass effect now)
-Free, better online (we don't have as many 13 year old retarded kids)
-blu ray
-bluetooth
-less chance of overheating and failure
-less power consumption
the only thing that the xbox does better is the kinect vs the move.

To be honest, PC is the best way to go in terms of gaming. Yes, PC's are rather expensive compared to actual consoles (PC technically isn't a console), but that's due to their usefulness in other areas. Also, PC's are designed to be upgradeable (which is a good and bad thing), whilst consoles aren't (at least not legally or breaching terms of use, as far as I'm aware), so as long as you have the money you can always get high-end performance.
Talking in game content, PC wins hands down. Every and any game you can think of gets released on PC (even if it does take a while), with exception of few console specific games (but they are only that way because the companies of said consoles pay them to be console specific, otherwise they'd be on everything). However, not every PC game comes out on console.
Even if a game isn't released on PC, there are emulators available which will allow you to play the games anyway. Along with that, all console games are made on PC's to being with.
That said, generally PC versions have more content within the games, like map editors, console commands, and other fun things that you're not likely to get in a console. Even if it is in the console version, it's generally not to the same standard of PC versions.
Besides me going for PC over anything else, I would actually say Nintendo is better compared to X-Box/Play Station. Only because, Nintendo has far more unique content compared to its competitors. X-Box and Play station are so similar in styles they have to try and constantly bas each other over the head to get a lead and most of their content is made for PC anyway. On the other hand, Nintendo has almost no-one to compete with in terms of the games it offers and the core of it's content isn't available to PC (or anything else for that matter) without an emulator (which isn't legal, unless you pay Nintendo, but who does that?).

The best console depends on what you are looking for, as far as the console's
peripherals and it's capabilities. What is it you want in a video game console?
Each individual person will recognize different advantages and disadvantages about
each product.

It really depends on what type of gaming u like. Pc games are usually online and sometimes have hackers. Ps3 and 360 are about the same but 360 u have to pay for live. Lastly Handhelds tend to be not supported as much or get replaced by a newer version or model in like 4-5 months like the psp or ds. Thats my opinion

I can't really pick out the best but I'll just say my experience with them and since I don't have a PS3, I will not discuss anything about it. I tried playing almost every available console from the old and first few Nintendos, Neo Geo, Segas and others. I currently have a DSLite, DSi, PS2, Xbox 360 and a Wii.
For online games for teens and up, I prefer the Xbox 360 since the online experience is great but as mentioned, you have to pay subscription. Multiplayer games would extend your capabilities to play beyond the missions of games like call of duty, etc.
Wii is more of family oriented. It will pretty much enhance a good family quality time specially with Wii Sports which comes with the console. DSi is like a DS with a Wii interface plus it has a camera with decent picture capturing quality. Pretty much DS and DSi has almost the same features except for the once mentioned for DSi.
