Am I the only person who has noticed that tv programmes are just utter rubbish nowadays. Ever since satellite tv and cable tv became popular with so many channels to pick and chose from there just does not seem to be anything new worth watching. I have satellite tv with dozens and dozens of channels in alsorts of categories and yet I still cant find anything worth watching. Right now I am watching a repeat (not for the first time) of a comedy show that was first broadcast about 12 years ago. Whatever happened to new ideas and innovation. Hows the television entertainment where you are. (Hope it's better than mine)

Well, I am in the UK and I think there are still a lot of quality programmes made here, especially by the BBC. I love Doctor Who, Ashes to Ashes, the one-off dramas they do, period dramas like Cranford and many others. The only genre that is lacking on TV is a good British sitcom, as the best ones are all from the 1970s!!

Hello, I agree with you about Ashes to Ashes, Gene Hunt is an amazing character, sadly it ends this weekend. Bring back Only Fools And Horses, The Royale Family and Porridge. Time to fire up the Quattro.....

Yes indeed, we need better quality TV of this kind, dramas and comedy that are clever and inventive. Only Fools and Horses was excellent and is still very funny nowadays.

There are a couple of television shows that I like but I don't watch them on the television. I download them on torrent and I watch them on my laptop. And discard the files after some time. But when I'm surfing, I usually watch National Geographic or History Channel. And their shows are always on repeat. So I guess, watching shows at the television grew a bit boring because they don't happen to feature a new one each time. Maybe it's not practical to actually feature a new show after a new show. The case is different on the local channels. There is always something new but the problem is the quality. The innovation and the creativity... are gone. So I watch television every now and then but not always. That way, there is always something new to feed on. And I don't grow to be an addict.

I hear ya there are too many channels to choose from & a huge bill for all those unwanted channels. That's why I don't have paid tv. There are plenty of channels to choose from on broadcast tv sadly that I can't find much to watch on there that is acceptable for my kids to enjoy outside of pbs or qubo cartoons.

Yes i agree. Now when ever i go to TV i don’t find any thing for me which can make me stayed in front of idiot box. So this is really frustrating and boring some time to be in front of tv. When i don’t find any thing , either i go for news or some discovery channel show. What about you. How you handle those boring things.

Hello, How do I handle the boring times when there is nothing on Television. Well for a start I seem to waste alot of time flicking through all the channels over and over again, in the hope of finding something worth watching. LOL Failing that I will read a newspaper or read a book, I could do some housework but then again maybe not Happy myLotting...

To me I really find television so interesting. I don't have cables that have several channels. I only have local channels instead. My favorite shows are news and current events. And also discovery channel. I like learning. Even I finished school but i really like learning and updated. Thanks to television that even though am always in the house but I am well informed.

I will agree with you about enjoying the discovery channels. They are always very interesting and full of facts. I would rather learn about the world by watch them than read a book. There are some stunning places , building, and people in the world. Happy viewing...

I live in the US and its the same here. Television is horrible here too. I have the satellite TV and so many channels without a good thing to watch. There is just no intelligent shows on TV anymore. Its a waste of money to me. I rather just watch movies that I rent. I also like the AMC and TCM which for the most part show the old classic movies that were the best ever.

Mine is worse, my friend. At the begining, cable TV was supposed to be without commercial. Now I must digest incredible ways of shedding weight in a jiffy and wonders to make the housekeepers life easier. THEN we can watch 10 minutes of a show that is exactly the same as last week´s. You live in the UK: what happened to those wonderful shows that came from the BBC? I remember a long time ago "Upstairs Downstairs". There were others. The reality shows we have in our country are so bad that the people who make them should be put in jail for distorting our people´s brains. Yet everyone seems to like it. And educational authorities don´t say anything about them being at an hour where all chidren are watching. I much prefer my computer than the TV. At least, here, if I want to, I can learn. Happy posting!

In my place cable TV, broadband TV,satelitte TV, almost all TV has no differences about their programs that make me lose interest watching TV programs and even movies. It can't give much entertainment to me now I'd rather stay in myLot than watching TV programs.. Good day!
