I want a snack.

I need to cut back on what I eat, and move around more, but I want a snack right now. Not later. I will have some whole grain bread, toasted, spread with cream cheese and topped with red pepper jelly. I think I am just getting excited about going on vacation starting Friday, and anxiety makes me want to eat more. What makes you want to snack and what kind of snacks do you eat? I am concentrating on whole grains, and fruit mostly, but I have had a medium banana and a large apple. I need something that feels decadent. Or, I see it is after 5:00, I will skip the snack and make some dinner for my son and I and save a few calories after all. Thanks for listening.

I went over to my friends started discussions and I have a friend who has just eaten a large quantity of buttered popcorn. Are your rice snacks portion controlled? Can I sneak in and grab some? I now want my other friend's popcorn.

Time spent on mylotting made you lose track of it, hence why you're a little hungry. Well I am glad your able to make dinner instead of sticking with a snack. My snacks aren't always that healthy, though I think my favorite is a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Peanut butter and banana sandwich has about 6 grams fiber at least, and healthy fats, and potassium and magnesium and protein. Good choice. Supper was good. I try to make it fairly large then only drink tea afterwards.

That's a good idea, making your meal a bigger one so your not tempted to grab something before bed. What I drink with dinner varies, usually it just depends on what is in the fridge at the time.

I skip dinner but instead I have a snack in the evening which I am told helps one loose weight. As when one sleeps on a full stomach without any exercise the calories do not get converted to energy. I do have a hot mug of horlicks just before going to bed.

I just got home from our Christian Ed meeting and I would love a snack but I don't have anything that I want and I know I shouldn't be eating. I would settle for a cold can of pineapple in its own juice except I don't have any and since it is almost 10pm I don't want to cook anything....so here I am drooling over what everyone has mentioned! Chocolate sounds so good!!!!!

I can snack on pineapple when it is cold. We usually eat supper late but I had the CE so I cooked earlier. Trying to get away from eating so late. But now that the weather is starting to get nice (well this week is an exception here) my husband allways finds lots of other things to do and we do end up eating later. Hope you have a nice time with your daughter.

Actually your cold can of pineapple sounds really good. I make a "mock champagne with pineapple, white grape juice and ginger ale and it is really refreshing. I went down and ate a big supper, and I will just have cold water, a shower and get to bed.

Anxiety makes me eat too. I just don't care anymore. My teeth are falling out. Can't afford to fix them. My daughter treated me awfully. Makes me sad and I eat. I really don't care anymore. I have no energy. I will try to do alittle something this Summer just because I have my granddaughter with me. They have pudding now that tastes pretty good and isn't very caloric. If I have a big breakfast I usually do better throughout the day and don't snack as much.

I have several friends with dental problems. It is just awful. None of us can afford the care we need. Eggs are a good source of protein, and soft. Yogurt is good, too. Your granddaughter needs you, and your daughter is sick, in her own way. We will try to be here for you.

And I can suck on chocolate. There are days I would give up completely if it weren't for Mylot. I am pretty pathetic right now.

I, too need to do some serious cutting back on what I eat. I was lying on my daughters bed a little earlier, (Her bed has a mirrored canopy) and I was appalled at the reflection that I was seeing. Now I would like to think that the reflection was not accurate but since she was sitting beside me and her reflection was accurate I have to accept the proof of my eyes. At any rate it is time for a definite lifestyle change.

Oh, those mirrors do not lie. I find that it is easier to change my lifestyle in the summer, and I am working on that. I find I have turned into an old lady with aches and pains lately. Need to do something about that. Move more.

Yes, very definately, Healthy and low in calories,,,NOT, its made with 10 oz or creme cheese, 1.5 cup confection sugar, 2.5 cups heavy cream, vanilla, lemon zest and vanilla beans. You whip it all up till its very thick, mold it and let it set up. After 8 hours you unmold it decorate the top with fresh raspberries and serve it with raspberry puree made with Grand Mariner. TO DIE FOR..Very French, very lovely and do you know what the best part is..The 8 hours is up and my raspberry puree is chilled...Bye................lol

You are going to have us all knocking down your door, asking for our share. It is past my bedtime, but I still need to go finish one curtain, so I can pack them and take them to my grand daughters this week.

I like the idea of eating, especially in between meals, but I am also battling for the bulges here and need to lose some extra pounds, but if ever I would, I like eating instant oat meal with non fat milk in it.

A homemade cheeseburger is delicious. I really do not care for buns. I need to try making some herbed bread buns here at home. Our schedules here are getting really confusing again, and so I am never quite sure when I am eating.

Nerves makes me eat more.
Not knowing from day to day about my bills and about work. About my husband's work. Last week, they said he definitely would be out of work Friday, May 14th, now they're saying July 2. People that want me to work for them and then keep changing their minds. Work for me, don't work for me. You'll get 30 hours of work and then I only get 10. Work for me tomorrow, then tomorrow comes, don't work for me, I'm sick. STRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I know so much how that feels. We are going to be on vacation when the job merger takes place. We do not really know the new people, or how to contact them. We are hoping that they do not just randomly schedule us and we are out of state. We do not know if hubby will continue to get drive pay. I do not believe the economy is really better. I would like regular income, but I need to know when my hubby works and when he does not.

I very seldom snack, but I do have dessert after dinner every night. It doesn't matter to me what I eat, if I'm hungry, I eat. What you ate doesn't sound all that bad, you are eating whole grain bread, and that's good for your system.
We could deprive ourselves of all our favorite foods, treats, and snacks, and then never actually be happy. Sometimes we need those quick fixes, and if that's what your body wants, then have it. I just don't really do anything in excess, well, I try anyways. If I have a craving for chocolate pie, I'll have a slice but not a huge one. If I have a taste for cheesecake, I'll have some, but not a big piece. Sometimes I'll mix stuff up, like a banana with peanut butter. I think whatever works for you, so be it, just not in excess. I think that's a good fair rule to follow, and its worked for me. Try eating more smaller snacks (fruit, grains, vegie's) during the day to let your body know it's being fed, it helps your metabolism kick in, gives you more energy, and you'd be surprised by the results. I use to also keep raw vegies in the fridge WITH dip, and snack on that years ago. Enjoy yourself hon.

Yes, moderation is key. I can go a long long time without eating chips or fries or drinking a pop, unless someone brings them in the house. We eat bananas every day, and I try to eat at least one apple a day. The ones I got this time were huge. Many healthy foods actually taste really good if we slow down and take the time to enjoy them.

Hi Gerty! I know exactly what you mean!lol But, thankfully I am
just usually to lazy to go into the kitchen (like it's so far
away and my computer is already there)! I usually get "my cravings"
around 11PM-12AM or later! I eat so late to begin with and only
eat one meal a day! You would think that I would be skinny as
a twig! But, nope! It is already 8:15PM and I am making dinner!
Doesn't mean that I will eat it before 9PM! I am so off schedule
with everything since I stay up all night and sleep during the
day! But, today I wasn't able to sleep and I am sure I will still
be up all night! Glad I'm reading a funny book!

My kitchen is a long ways away, down stairs and at the back of the house. I drink a lot of water. You actually need to eat more than one time a day. Our schedules are strange here, especially since hubby's duty within his job changed. It does really affect your eating schedule.

it's nice that your snacks are healthy. mine aren't: cheddar and sour cream flavored chips, hot salsa, and ice-cold regular coke. in some days, i get to snack on something "healthy": tuna sashimi and maki rolls. i know, weird that i snack on these, but they're my comfort food and i love eating them.
cheers and happy myLotting!

Some would say my snack is not healthy. I know that cream cheese is better for you than butter. I settled for waiting for a meal. I would be the type to snack on the sushi and probably the maki rolls as well. They are healthy.

I know how it is when you want to snack on anything, because this afternoon I missed up and eat a whole bag of extra butter popcorn. Therefore, I will not have a snack this evening.
Have a wonderful evening

I usually snack when I am bored unfortunately. I have been pretty busy today, so I have not really had time to snack much. I did just peel an apple for my son to snack on before dinner. I don't normally snack on healthy things even though I know better.

WE are too much alike ! I too want a snack and all the time ! I found frozen fruit in the freezer department at my store and I take out a few pieces that are frozen and I also put on a new sweetener called Truvia and Yummy!
I learned thru a member here that cherries help one sleep. I bought cherries. I also know Pineapple is good for the tummy so I bought frozen pineapple !
There are all kinds of frozen fruits and I love to nibble on the frozen cherries the best.
I did buy whole frozen strawberries but I also wanted chocolate syrup on them !!
I just give up and think I'll buy a bigger size of pants LOL
Hang in there Gerty, you are not alone !
OH and enjoy the vacation :)

Truvia is made with a plant, Stevia. That is one of the best choices you can make. Cherries are also supposed to help with arthritis pain and inflammation. You have made some good choices. Hershey's chocolate syrup is fat free, so it is not too bad to have occasionally.

I need to not keep on eating whatever I want or soon I will hurt so bad I cannot walk and I will become diabetic just like the rest of my family. We do keep the dark chocolate dove promises in the fridge. Having one occasionally helps me not need to go on sugar splurges.
