I read that BP execs are making millions off insurance claims from the explosion. I also read they are pointing the finger at another company who made a faulty safety device. They all need to take responsibility for this. Those millions should be required to be put towards the cleanup effort and recovery for the shoreline communities. As for the govt... they can stop easing the pressure on these rigs to comply with regulations and they can shut a bunch of them down, but at the very least they can stop drilling new ones.

BP is also pointing a finger at a concrete company...I didn't catch why since I heard it on the radio while driving. I live in Florida and I don't believe that existing rigs should be shut down but I don't think we're going to be seeing any more exploratory rigs, which is what this one was, so close to the coast in the future.

I hope not. This is a major catastrophe and it must never happen again. To build closer to the shore would be just about the most irresponsible thing we could do at this point.
