During my sophomore year of college I was a working student. I was taking 18 credit hours of courses with a biology/pre-med major and I was working fifteen hours a week in alumni donations. I don't feel that the time that I was working really took away from my studies. Instead of that, I feel that working made me a better student because I had less time for my social life because I needed the money and I knew that I needed to maintain a minimum grade point average to keep my academic scholarship.

I am a student of masters degree in biology, a part time lecture, and a research assistant as well. As for me, it was really hard because of the multi tasks that is given to me. It wasn’t that easy. There are a lot of struggles along the way. And a lot of issues that needs to be done. In the department where I am in, there are a lot of things that are assigned to me. And at the laboratory where I am in, there were also a lot. Then, there is the problem also with regards to myself, I am not acquinted with such works as of this time. Well, it took me a year to adjust. I am still adjusting as of the same time.

I was not but majority of my classmates were in college. Some of them we working as tutors to Korean students, while some were call center agents. I really admired them because it was amazing how they were able to balance their time between school and work. I wanted to work also but my parents would not allow me because I was enjoying a scholarship and they did not want me to lose it. And most of my classmates who were working (who were my closest friends) graduated with honors. They just don't know that I really admire them. They're the best students that I've met so far.

I was back during my 1st and 2nd years in college, at very young ages. I worked then in the restaurant of my auntie. In return of working for her, she supports my studies. It was very difficult - physical and emotional. Physical because I had experienced sleeping late (after working in the resto and studying afterwards) and waking up early to watch the resto and prepare for school. Emotionally hard because I also experienced self-pity (yeah I do). I always ask God why, we, are not equal. Why can they smile, why can't I? Why do they have well-off family, why can they afford to get what they want, why can't I?
However, I made it to graduate. You know what's the secret? DETERMINATION and FAITH. These were the weapons I had to endure all the challenges that came along my way.
