Today i heard about port forwading.can any one tell me clearly what is port forwarding?

I just heard this word from other person. that's why i asked about that if you know means tell.i think it related to some internet process.

okay...in simple definiton, port forwarding is forwarding your port to another port or protocol. eg: your proxy port to another proxy, httt to https or socks and vice versa.
Some people do this because some if her port blocked, so she need to bypass it. Or you just want to suit with your need....

Port forwarding is a process in witch you open some ports to get information from other pc's. If you have a router it is probably blocking ports and you have to open some. I remember i had to open ports a few times because my bittorent wouldn't work. But it's always good to check if your windows firewall is back on. If you have an antivirus chances are it will disable the xp firewall but sometimes it turns back on and ports get blocked again. You open ports by typing your ip into url box and entering password and than you're in the router and you have to configer ports. Time consuming staff i told you most of what i know, hope it helps.
