As an adult, are you still scared of storms?

Sometimes, when it storms I still get scared. It is one of those fears I had when I was a child that I have never been able to shake. I do better with them than I did when I was a kid, but depending on the intensity of the storm I still can get rattled. How does storms affect you? Do you still have a struggle with them or do you sleep right through them?

Hi Steinway, thanks for coming for with this topic. Well, as an adult I do scare of storms.LOL.When I was kid I went under the bed when I heard the storm. I still remember when I was in the first year of degree. At that time it was cats and dogs, so I didn't go for my hockey training. I slept like hell because it was so cold. When I went to the cafe for the dinner I heard that few of my college's boys did die by the storm. I got struck by the storm when they was trying to find the shelter under the tree as they trained football. Poor to them

Yes I am because I have already bad fears about the storms. When the storms attacked to our village our house was broke and everything was washed out. We asked favor to our neighbors that we will live in their house for 2 weeks just to settle things after the disaster. Since then I've learned to live in the cold floor of my good neighbors and I felt shy as I am getting older. So from this time on I will always have fear and nervous when there is storm coming might be another destruction will be happen after.

I'm just the opposite...I love storms, especially the ones with lots of lightening. We have a lot of good storms here where I live and since my state is so flat I can see them coming from a long way off.

Storms was really scary when the pouring of water was too many that our country parts was in flood. We had a bad experienced in the past months, the typhoon "Pepeng" made our place a disaster. The wind that blows was really strong and electric current was being cut off because of this. I definitely am hard up in sleeping thinking that the moment we opened our eyes in the morning, our house would be filled with water.

It depends of the power of the storm. I mean who is not afraid of the storm that is capable of destroying your house. It is scary even to hear the howling wind slamming in your windows. The hassle of the flood that besets the neighborhood, the brownouts, the falling of big trees. What a hassle :)

Hi, Steinway. I don't get really scared, but I will make sure that I stay far away from the window. And if I am using electricity at the time, I will turn it off. I don't like to be doing anything heavy when it is lightning.

I'm the opposite. I actually really love storms. It's something that I've always seemed to enjoy even as a kid. I can remember sitting on the front porch with my dad and just enjoying the storm. I don't know why, but it's something that I've always liked. Sometimes I just wish that there were more storms for me to enjoy.

As a child, i was frightened of storms. At the same time i was also fascinated by them. Now as an adult, I am still energized by a storm. There is just something about them. The fascination is still there. The fear is not.

I happen to love storms in fact I have ever since I was a kid, Even though I was scared of being struck my lighting that never stopped me from going outside and enjoying a good thunder and lightning spectacle. And about the sleeping part I doubt when I am sleeping an earthquake could wake me up I am a very sound sleeper.

Yes, still scared especially if the strong rains, lightning and thunder all go together at the same time. I always imagine that something might happen to me and it really scares me. I also always worry of the effect it will have in our country.

I admit that I'm scared of storms during my childhood because I'm afraid to hear lightning and thunder so most of the time I hide myself inside the room so I can't hear the sound of the violent thunder.

I think most of our deepest fears come from childhood. I can't lie, I am afraid of the storm. I am afraid that I will get shocked or electricuted. knowing that my bed is right next to my window makes things worse for me so I move away from the winter whenever there is a bad storm lol

Yes, I am still very scared of storms. I don't mind the small gushes of wind and some rainfalls. But I don't like when it's getting very windy, noisy, rain is pounding so hard on the roof, and you can see blazing thunder lightning.. I don't like it. But I am happy, that here in my country we don't have storms like tornadoes or twisters. That would be so horrifyingly scary. I feel for those you have to live in those kind of conditions. I won't be able to sleep when I know anytime something like that can come. (^^,)

It strange as even as a child storms never bothered me even when the lightening and thunder appeared to be directly above the house. I remember a few years back when I was out for a bike ride and huge storm came over head and it didn't faze me at all, even seeing lightening striking the ground not far from where I was. I seem to get re-energized by storms, so much so that I have been known to go outside in the midst of a storm to watch it, strange I know.

I can honestly say that as a child I was not scared of storms at all. Actually, quite the opposite. I was fascinated with them! I rememer during thunderstorms at night I would sit at my window and just watch the storms. I don't really understand it, but it was just something I would do. Today, I do not have fear, but I also do not have that fascination that I had as a kid. I guess I just think-a storms coming- and then I don't really think anything else of it.
