I prefer AMD to Intel because Amd processors are cheaper compared to their intel conterparts. There is a false impression about Amd processors that it produces a Lot of heat but infact Amd processors are much cooler than intel.Amd processors are also good for gaming.

I think like you! AMD is always looking for new technology...Intel does instead too much marketing. Intel is friend of HP and Compaq...so all compaq and hp notebooks have intel processors...even there are AMD TurionX2 processors that are great too like core2 processors! I hope AMD will find new things to be competitive!

i gave a plus rating.....because u are my friend :o)) ahha, but...dual core performance is impressive! My wallet is green now :-(. Do you need dual core for playing Doom3 (graphic is too small....I can't see it) or what? I'd like to do some video editing...dual core is faster!

I prefer Intel. My first notebook use AMD. It's not good.
And now my notebook use Intel. It's great.

my brother's new notebook is AMD...it's pretty hot as processor, because it was one of first AMD64. But it's so fast...it's a 2.2GHz processor...an athlon64 3400+. When I want to slowdown it and keep her fan silent, I use CrystalCPUID...and I set it to 800 MHz 0.8V...and it's pretty silent! Fan never starts! Try that!

I have an AMD Athlon64 processor and it makes its must dearly, but also I must admit that new Core 2 Duo are impressive! The problem of intel processor is the prize for a good core.

Look at P4 temperature! That processor is based on the old architecture Netburst from Intel. P4 is an oven inside your case! P4 is the warmest processor in the world! If it get too hot, it goes on thermal throttling when it get so hot. Thermal throttling means that it lower its speed very much. P4 it's "eat" up to 130W of power! I like only new processors from Intel....because old ones are ovens!

Intel is by far the best processor one can get. AMD is not that good a processor and it heats up pretty fast. Intel has been providing best processors to people. I use the Intel Pentium4 2.6Ghz processor and will be getting a core2 duo for my next computer soon.

Instead you are telling false things..because P4 are the hottest processor sold by intel and in general the hottest ones. Athlon64 runs much cool. Anyway Intel is always more expensive than AMD. Anyway you do better to buy a core2 duo because they are faster than amd athlon64 now. But P4 are based on the old architecture and run really hot. You was lucky if your P4 was ok, maybe it was a northwood, still a good processor, not a Prescott...really a toaster!
