eleanor roosevelt said that you should do one thing that scares you everyday. what do you think of this? i think i would like to try to live more like that. doing something that scares you doesn't mean going extreme every single day, right? it could be talking to a person you don't normally talk to or something like that. i think that would be interesting. after all, the things that scares you are usually the most worthwhile.

So far, one fear that I can confirm would be me situated at a very high place. I am quite afraid of heights and I would really like to conquer that fear of mine. I don't mean, looking out a window of a room that is on the highest floor, I mean completely at the edge of the cliff or being at a very high place and if not careful, I would definitely fall.
With what Eleanor Roosevelt mentioned, I wish I can actually do that, I mean, go to high places each day.. Unfortunately, those high places are either at buildings or at amusement parks, I can't go to either one everyday....

I even have to go online and search for that tree drop and after watching a video, it looked rather exciting. I guess I would do that if ever givent the chance to go to Subic. The zip line is also something interesting, I think.
Maybe roller coasters too can help me conquer my fear of heights. I mean, I would try to ride and ride it again until I have gotten used to it. I wonder how many rides can I make..?

the superman zipline's really fun! i did it twice when we went there because my friend wouldn't do it if she would do it alone. and we were a group of five so i volunteered that i would do it twice. i loved it! i wanted to do the tree drop even though i got a little scared when i saw the tree. of course, i didn't admit it to my friends. haha. it was a little pricey for me and i wanted to save my money for shopping, so i had to choose between doing the zipline twice or doing the tree drop. no regrets though. i told my friends i'd do the tree drop when they make it a hundred feet. the workers there told us that they're working on a hundred-feet tree drop.
yeah, that would help too. i love roller coasters as well. the last time we went to the enchanted kingdom, we waited for two hours just to get on space shuttle.

if you wanna try conquering your fear of heights. there's something i would suggest. you live in the philippines, right? have you ever been to the treetop adventure in subic? you should try the tree drop. you jump off a tree at 60 ft. don't worry, they give you harnesses and stuff. when we went there, i really wanted to try that one but no one would do it with me. i didn't think it would be fun going through it alone so i just went and did the zipline twice.

I think it is an interesting idea, and I like to challenge myself by doing some of the things that I am afraid of. I feels great to do things that I didn't think I was able to do. I have a notebook where I have written down some of the things that I would like to try one day, but I don't know if I will go through with all those things as some of them are more extreme than others. I think there are many ways of challenging yourself, and it doesn't have to be extreme things, sometimes it is enough to do some of those small things that you normally avoid.

i used to have a list too, but it's a list of the things that me and my friends would do together. i guess i still do have a mental list of the things i wanna do like surfing, bungee jumping, sky diving, that kind of stuff. i don't really think of it as a challenge, i just like the rush of adrenaline that comes along with it. but going back to my topic, yeah, it doesn't have to be extreme, simply saying yes to some things that you always say no to could be a big scary thing.

i agree. although sometimes i think that i am getting SO comfortable in my comfort zone that i don't want to move out of it, then find myself resenting change. and i don't wanna be the kind of person who's so scared of change :)

I think it's an interesting idea. I tend to be very stuck in my comfort zone, so I don't know that I would excel at trying this out.
However, here would be my warning, and what I'd think about if I did decide to try it. Basically, I would warn against *finding* things that scare you, and trying those. Do you know what I mean? Like, because if you did that, it would all seem fake on some level. For instance, if you decided to talk to a person who you'd never met before, and then you approached a stranger and struck up a conversation, there'd be no motivation there except for to do something that scares you. That person -- the stranger -- would very likely pick up on that fact, and it would feel false. I think the trick is to identify the things that come naturally into your life that you would normally be too scared to accept or say yes to or try out, and accept, say yes and try out those things. I feel like some of what I said sounds rambly, but does that sort of make sense.

i guess so. have you ever seen the movie "yes man"? what you just said right there reminded me of that movie. jim carey just said yes to everything that came his way. it did get him in trouble but he did get a lot of good things out of it though.
