Right now laptops are gaining popularity because of the way you can store them in your house is much practical than having desktop. In desktop, you have to reserve a permanent place for that but in laptop you can fold it and keep it somewhere safe. Laptops nowadays are becoming more durable unlike before. They are handy and they can easily be transported. With LCD monitors they can be as clear and consumes less electricity than desktops which at this time is 200watts already. Laptop has a backup battery installed so whenever brownouts do occur then you still have time to save whatever your doing unlike desktops you have to buy separate UPS to be able to save data when power interruption happens. I think these are just a few advantages of laptop vs. desktops.

Well you can find good and cheap laptops around. I think it is important you have that kind of pc with students since you can actually bring it anywhere.

i prefer laptop to desktop, cause it is convenient to me.in college, most of the time i use computer is not in my dorminary.and i can use laptop without caring about the power supply.what's more,i can use laptop everywhere i like. but as far as i'm concerned, i would just choose a cheaper laptop in order to achieve both requirements of saving the money and usefulness~~~

i prefer laptops..because most of the time projects can't be finished in the house..that's why it's good to do it in school during break times..in this way you spend your time productively..

Laptops !! Ofcourse.. but the performance models.. not the netbooks. I don't mind, if my laptop is not easily portable. This is the case, if i am going for a PC. Otherwise i would prefer a Macbook anyday. My current laptop is a Dell i1720 with 8600 GT graphics card , core 2 duo, 4 GB , 500GB and all.. so basically i like to have portable performance :-)

my boyfriend is have some insights on me regarding this at the time when i am planning to buy a computer for my own use. although i have the money to afford a laptop computer, he did not recommend me to buy it. the reason is maintenance and upgrading. it is hard to maintain and upgrade laptop computers because the parts were so little, so expensive. if i am not mistaken, you can buy second hand parts for desktop which cannot be done on laptop. laptops were for those who want a status symbol only. i will go for durable desktops that will last for years, it has been tested. the laptop my friend brought last month does not function anymore because he accidentally sat on it..

I prefer laptop to desktop. You know why, most of the time i am away from home. So i can surf anywhere with my internet modem connection on laptop. Also the electricity cnnsumption is oless. On long term basis it is good if u can use your laptop carefully

I really prefer laptops a lot more than desktops at this point in my life. I think that it really depends person-by-person on where you are in life. Right now, I'm constantly on the go between work, my house, my grandparents' house, and the new house we're buying and fixing up. I've got lots that I do online to earn some extra income and I take classes online, so it's always really important that I have the programs on my computer so that I can do my homework by the time that it's due and that I have the links to the sites I do work on. So a laptop is really easier for me because wherever I am going I'll be able to do my homework and work on what I get done and since I'm rarely at home to begin with a desktop really wouldn't work all that well. ^_^ I do hope to get a desktop computer when we're a little more settled and things aren't quite as hectic as they are now, though.

Well, I have started learning computer languages and all the thing on my desktop and so that was my first computer that I used but now I prefer Laptops as wherever I go, I can carry it and surf. Laptops are light and easy to move and also not so expensive these days. You can buy laptops according to your budgets. And also Laptop computers are small personal computers designed for using on the move. They usually have all the functions of a desktop computer. I think when one thinks of laptops there are a few immediate advantages that come to mind. Thanks.

Depends on the need. Laptops for projects and meeting and for presentation also for easily access when not at home. Desktop is for durability and long term us. I have both though

Hi Zedrick, Eventhough desktop computer has better functionalities compared to laptop computer, I still prefer laptop because laptop computer is convenient and you can bring it anywhere you go. Laptop computer gives you desktop power plus mobility though a little bit slower than a desktop.
