hi friends.
first of all,i didnt watch the IPL finals fully because i was more upset than the ambani's at the match.
since india got knocked out, there have been these TV debates discussing about why india failed and as usual i was watching it.
two statements shocked me to the core.
first:
Dhoni:
the franchises are putting so much MONEY for us and we have to give them our 100 %.
second (shocking ):
Dhoni: (after winning the trophy)
Presentation announcer:
which trophy will you cherish more, this one or 2007 world cup?
Dhoni:
defintely this one.
most of the cricket experts agreed that they heard the first comment and questions how and why money became the basis for performance
the second one is not completely sure.heck everybody was shocked when this statement was given by one of the paneslists.
what do you think?

This is the problem of PRIORITY.
It seems players are giving more PRIORITY to IPL, obviously for MONEY reasons.
It is a shame that they don't feel like fighting when they are playing for country.
And these guys are shown as ICONS all over media!
Imagine the anguish the ARMY fighters might be feeling, they sacrifice their lives while fighting for country and nobody notices them and these guys take MONEY for playing and they are ICONS and STARS!
FANS and people need to introspect.
Happy Mylotting!

hey be happy and look at the positives.cricket is still alive in india and there are people who play for passion rather than for money like our women's team which went to the semis.

Your are right but Women's team doesn't get much coverage. Most people don't even know who is leading the Women's cricket team!
Only thing is Cricketers just need to change their attitude and play some good cricket. When it hits to their mind may be they will work harder. Lack of pain shown by cricketers in losing is what most disheartening for cricket fans. Gavaskar once said, when he was chosen as the 'Sportsman of the Decade' by the Sportstar magazine 'Their should be pain when you lose, otherwise you won't be much motivated for the next matches' not exact quote but the meaning is similar.

actually there is one more thing thats hurting me.
it must be one of those major ICC events and india were knocked out in the first round.
the then captain of india during the press conference said that he was really sorry and apologized to the fans for failing them in that tournament.
eventhough i was mad,i was kinda happy that these players have enough guts to come out in the open and apologize to the fans who are the real core for cricket.
not some silly excuses on fatigue and parties.

Whether Dhoni really gave that second statement what you have mentioned..I too heard the presentation..but I didn't hear anything like that..may be I missed out..If it is true then..it is not good from Dhoni..Huh ! it is very sad that our team now going very bad..We were the best in test, odi and t20's too...but all things changed after this IPL...stupid IPL...don't know who will save our team..But one thing is sure..all the players are giving there full commitment in IPL than for country..
Do you remember a match vs west indies. It was a ODI match..when the top order collapsed..Dhoni made 95 and saved us..even though we lost it is a great innings..Dhoni can do things..we have to beleive in him..Lets see in the coming tournaments..

to be honest,i was waiting for this to happen for almost 2 years now.you see Dhoni got served in the golden plate right from the time he took captaincy.he was not exactly a regular in Tests but he was made one.no one questioned his form considering his strike rate went below that of rahul dravid's at one point because team is winning.he won the world cup.he won the triseries in australia,he lost only one match as a captain in test matches.
it was like he became the favourite child of BCCI or something.i want something tragic to happen.something very tragic that must make the people forget his past accomplishments and question his captaincy.
if and when he survives and come out of it,he will become the true captain of india.
so pretty much the asia cup in june will be acid test.everybody will closelt scrutinise his batting, his wicket-keeping skills and most importantly his captaincy and whether it is influencial or not.
so if we are lucky,we might get the old dhoni back after the asia cup.happy lotting.

I think the players give more to IPL because it involves more money . And also they don't get much support from the audience during world cup as they get during the IPL.
