do you think iker casillas deserve tobe number 1 in spain

The problem for Valdez is that Casillas has established himself as number 1 for Spain and his performances for Spain have not really been bad. So if it isn't broke why fix it. So Casillas continues to be the number 1 keeper for Spain. I think he is also the captain of the national team if I am not wrong. And it is not only Valdez who is waiting in the ranks. Pepe Reina is also a great keeper who has been kept out of the team!! Cheers! Ram

Hi adhyz, I think Victor Valdez did nothing wrong. The problem is Iker Casillas has done a great job for Spain so far. He has been a number one goalkeeper for Spain for quite a while and has done a lot of good job. Iker Cassilas even has captained Spain before and his performance at La Liga is not bad too. And I believe only an injury or suspended would stop Iker Cassilas from keeping the Spain goal posts. A drastic drop in performance would also cost Iker Cassilas job but I do not think it would happen in a very near future. Since only one goalkeeper can play at a time, Spain coach has to make a choice and his choice currently is Iker Cassilas. Victor Valdes or even Pepe Reina has to be patience and wait for their time.

Although I support FC Barcelona, I consider Casillas to be a much better goalkeeper than Valdes. It's true that Valdes had better club performances lately, but we must differentiate between club value and player value. I think Valdes is now a better player than let's say 3 years ago, but he's still not as reliable as Casillas. Valdes is the kind of goalkeeper that can save very well for 3 matches and have a really poor performance in the 4th, or save very well during a match and deliver a couple of bloopers that can lead to losing the game. I think Casillas has a constant quality of performance, and constant on a pretta high level. I would keep Casillas in my first 11 over Valdes.

I think Casillas is a much better goalkeeper than Valdez, Real Madrid has avoided many losses mainly due to Casillas outstanding performances, while Valdez has a much better defense in front of him, I am not saying Valdez isnt a good goalkeeper just that he is not at Casillas´level. And I dont like Real Madrid so I think I am being quite objective.

Your question is if Valdez deserves an oportunity before Pepe Reina or Diego Lopez who have showed that they're way better than Valdez and in a close level to Iker?, I supose you haven't seen them play and as Barcelona always gets the attention you asume that Valdez is one of the best goalkeepers of Spain. I'll tell you something... Victor Valdez will not attend to the WorldCup, his level is not as good as the three goalkeepers that will attend. 1.- Iker Casillas.(Real Madrid) 2.- José "Pepe" Reina.(Liverpool) 3.- Diego López. (Villareal)

Victor valdez is in a good club barca, im not saying her doesnt do anything but more often its his team that helps him out. Casillas is also in Good club Real, but for the past 4 years they arent performing anything, especially in this prev 2 seasons, players come and go and there is no proper team chemistry, and so there is more pressure on the side of casillas for which he wont be able to perform compared to the place where Valdes is.
