We call it GMs or Group Messages, i really hate receiving this type of messages, especially if its really a non sense message, is there a polite way of telling the person to remove you from his/her list? without hurting or insulting him/her.

I've the experianced the same thing, so i know what you feel. My advice is, say honestly what you feel. If your friend is an undursanding person, then he/she will not disappointed or hurt. Use the magic word. Start with an apology and end it with please understand. I am sure your friend will understand.
If you're still unsure, you can try to reply your friend's message. Keep using the magic word.
Hopefully my experiance can be useful.
