In Japan, TOEIC is really popular. Many companies require the candidates of their job openning to have a high score in TOEIC. According to the official website of TOEIC, a lot of people around the world take TOEIC. But, is that really so? Here in mylot, when I serched TOEIC, i just hit one discussion, which are only two responses on the topic. This made me wonder if really a lot of peolpe take this test. I took TOEIC a lot of times. How about you? Have you ever taken TOEIC? * It is not TOEFL but TOEIC. :)

Hi nessosamu, I'm actually thinking of working in Japan one day. I hope to participate in the JET program. Have you heard of it? Anyway, I've heard of TOEFL but not TOEIC. I will check out the website and see how I can go about taking the examinations. Thanks!

Yes, I have taken TOEIC, and I got a really good score However, I know that it will never be useful for me outside Japan. I have taken it only once, but when it stops being valid I will take it again, as I think the result is only valid for two years.

oh, since i launched my business here in Japan, i have never had a chance to leave here for other countries. So all information i can get is though the internet or books. some books say TOEIC is only useful in Japan and Korea, but the official site claims the test is held in 90 countries. another website says it is useful particularly in Asia. :( i am a little confused. X0 which claim should i believe! so i desided to ask here. i see you took TOEIC recently. oh, you got a good score at the first try? that is impressive! ;) i teach English at my school in Osaka. To be an English teacher, i needed to study TOEIC and have a good score. (you know the TOEIC craze in Japan) but at that time, my english was really poor so i had taken TOEIC many times until i got a good score. :) at that time, ECC required candidates for a job opening as a non-native English teacher to have more than 860. so when i got 895, i stopped keeping taking the test. when i started studying english very hard, being hired as a teacher was one of my options but when i got 895, i had already started my sall english school. so i have never worked for any other english school. now i am taking 1st grade STEP test next month.
