Hello everyone I have a new favorite type of Oatmeal it is called steel cut oats. It has a nutter texture and very chewy and yummy! I bought it at Aldi's after it was recommend to me me by sister. I bought it a couple of time and now they do not carry it.
So I went to Wal*marts looking for it and they have stopped carrying as well...
I am wondering if any of my friends on here can tell me the best place to get my Steel Cut Oats for the best price?

Sounds like something I'd like..I get tired of the "mushiness" of oatmeal and don't eat it as often as I need to...I can't find it anywhere local, but it might be in a health food store..Did you look there?

Hi Carmel, Nice to see you again as well!! it is a very good product..has a much nutter texture and you actually fill like you are chewing something, rather then just eating mush and much better for you and your body then the processed oatmeal!

I like to have a chewier texture so I add ground flax to it as well. For my own bowl I add some chopped nuts as well. yummy! Sometimes cinnamon too!

Hi LouiseKnittel
My husband and I also eat Steel Cut Oats and also Irish Oatmeal which is almost the same we get ours from Food Lion we also shop at ALDI's but have not seen them here in the Aldi's where we shop.
I like to put cut up apples, raisins, and peaches in mine we also put soy milk and sometimes almond milk in our oatmeal instead of cow's milk actually the soy and almond milk tastes pretty good
We eat oatmeal about 4 times a week we take it to work for breakfast almost every day it great for your digestive system as well as cholesterol

I guess it turned out alright that you cannot get it at Aldi's now. I put ground flaxseed in lots of my cereal and baked goods.

I love those steel cut oats and have been eating them for some time now. They are so much tastier than the usual oatmeal. I get mine at a health food grocery store and get them in bulk. I usually cook up a big batch and freeze it in serving sizes and then heat when I want some.

I don't have a microwave now So I put the oats in the fridge to thaw over night Then heat it slowly in a skillet on top the stove. Sorry I can't be of more help there. good luck at the health food store. When my granddaughter go there We spend a lot of time in the herb area. that's where I get all my herbs and seasonings now, so much cheaper than the grocery store.

Hi Deebomb, I too make up large amounts of breakfast cereal for me and my husband then all we have to do is microwave it. I never freeze it though, how long do you microwave them for? I am thinking that I am going to have to go to the local health food store....

I am going to guess that with Wal Mart and Aldi's they consider it to be a winter thing. Hot cereal. Many grocery stores carry products by Bob's Red Mill, and I think I have seen it in those sections. Otherwise you will either have to go to a health food store or shop for them online. I will have to try them, or at least put them in the granola I am supposed to be making.

try Trader Joe's if you have one where you are as I noticed they carry steel cut oats and several other kinds of oats and they usually have really great prices too. I like that type of oats too and they really
are tasty, I really love Trader Joe's as they carry healthier types
of foods.

I have heard of them but never tried them so I can't help you out...I wouldn't know where to buy them outside a nature store or something like that.....we have a coop which sells that type of thing....might want to try finding a health food store?
